Making It Easier for Visually Impaired Users to Find Partners: IRODORI Achieves Full-Screen VoiceOver Support

Comet Inc. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Isumi Yuki) has fully implemented support for VoiceOver, Apple’s built-in screen reader on iOS devices, within its disability-focused matching app, IRODORI. This update ensures that users with visual impairments can now comfortably access every screen of the application.

■ Development Background

With the enforcement of the revised Act on Elimination of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities on April 1, Reiwa 6 (2024), businesses are strongly encouraged to ensure web accessibility so that services are usable by everyone, regardless of disability.

Previously, IRODORI had partially supported VoiceOver on select features. However, users with visual impairments expressed a desire for broader and more comprehensive accessibility. In response to this direct feedback from users, the company has now achieved full compatibility across all app screens to ensure a safer and more inclusive user experience.

■ Usability Testing Conducted in Collaboration with Users with Disabilities

For this update, the company collaborated with blind users to conduct usability testing under conditions closely resembling real-world usage.

During testing, every aspect of screen reading—including reading order, target elements, and audio content—was meticulously reviewed. Based on user feedback, the team refined the app to ensure that screen states and operational cues can be accurately understood through audio alone.

As a result, users with visual impairments can now intuitively comprehend information and smoothly navigate the app interface.
