Zenless Zone Zero Season 3 Opens! New Main City, the Skyborne Island 'Los Califa', Makes a Grand Debut

Global entertainment brand HoYoverse today announced the release of the urban fantasy action RPG Zenless Zone Zero Ver. 3.0 'Confessions of a Dreamer' on Wednesday, June 17. As Season 3 begins, the mysterious skyborne island 'Los Califa' makes its first appearance. The S-Rank Wind Attribute Anomaly Agent 'Verina' and S-Rank Fire Attribute Stun Agent 'Normu' will be featured in the first and second halves of the update, respectively. The protagonist's battle form 'Pyrois' and 1600 Polychromes will be given away for free as a Season 3 special departure gift. Additionally, Zenless Zone Zero will launch on Steam on June 17, with game data being shareable across platforms.

New Main City 'Los Califa'

In the Ver. 3.0 main story, to treat the mysterious Ether power that has begun to run rampant again within their body, the Proxy accepts an invitation from the new mayor of Eridu and heads to the mysterious island floating high in the sky: Los Califa. Guided by the General Affairs Officer of the External Affairs Bureau, Verina, the Proxy arrives on the island as a special transfer student and gradually unravels the secrets of the mysterious power 'Pyrois' lurking within them. Meanwhile, on Los Califa, a dispute over the External Affairs Bureau's Bangboo chips is intensifying. Frequent Bangboo self-destruction incidents are drawing attention from all sides, and strange fluctuations are occurring in the Hollow of the Energy District. Furthermore, the shadow of the first Void Hunter, Remiel Dan, begins to flicker across this sky city, as a new crisis quietly emerges.

New Agents

Verina, an S-Rank Wind Attribute Anomaly Agent and General Affairs Officer of the External Affairs Bureau, becomes the first Wind Attribute Agent in Zenless Zone Zero. She can accumulate Wind Anomaly Buildup on enemies, transitioning them into a 'Windburn' state. When 'Windburn' acts simultaneously with other anomalies, it triggers a unique 'Turbulence' effect, dealing area damage of the corresponding attribute to surrounding enemies in addition to 'Windburn'. If the team has two or more Anomaly or same-attribute agents, Verina's Windburn and Turbulence damage increases, and her potential will be further expanded as new agents are added in the future.

Normu, an S-Rank Fire Attribute Stun Agent, is the Chief Technician of the External Affairs Bureau and a key figure at the core of the Marcel Group's technology. Her core combat mechanic revolves around her trademark 'hat'—regardless of whether Normu is on the field, the hat automatically accumulates 'Preheat'. When resources are sufficient, it converts other members' 'Quick Assist' into 'Chain Skills', providing the entire team with additional Chain Attack opportunities.

Additionally, the agents Ye Shunguang and Qianxia will have their banners rerun, and their signature W-Engines will also be available.

New Exploration Experience

Ver. 3.0 delivers a novel exploration experience. Los Califa features numerous distinctive landmarks. 'Roarin' Brekkies' offers daily random cookie blind boxes, and the 'Spotlight Theater' hidden in the alley presents a unique show starring Bangboos. Furthermore, mysterious flying buses are parked around the city, which can be summoned at specific times to unlock hidden routes. The Proxy also gains full-area terminal access, allowing them to operate city surveillance cameras from a first-person perspective for scanning and reconnaissance, and can also pilot drones with the help of Eous. Within the Skamall Hollow, players can ride 'Orbit Rails' using Pyrois's space-warping ability to move quickly between areas. If they encounter a 'Singular Leak' and fall into a duplicate space, the field and gimmick states will mutate, requiring the use of Pyrois's power to resolve the anomaly. To record all discoveries in Los Califa, a new collection system 'Bangplanet' has been implemented, allowing players to aggregate exploration results and exchange them for various rewards like Polychromes.

New Events

Regarding events, a new permanent content 'Genius! Miracle! Bangboo Chip!' will be available alongside Ver. 3.0. Players can train and command a Bangboo team, repair Bangputers, and complete chip research tasks. A new permanent combat mode 'Virtual Annihilation Operation' will also be implemented. This mode focuses on challenging high-difficulty bosses with no attribute weakness or resistance restrictions, testing the Proxy's understanding of mechanics and operational skill. Other limited-time events will be released sequentially. Clearing related events will yield items for customizing Drive Discs, W-Engines, Polychromes, titles, and other rewards, and new Drive Disc sets will become unlockable. Furthermore, Verina's limited costume 'Leisure Silhouette' will be available in the store alongside the version update.

System Improvements

Regarding system improvements, the auto-selection function for Drive Discs now supports batch processing, allowing players to dispose of unwanted Drive Discs in bulk, significantly improving inventory management efficiency. The Drive Disc tuning screen will now prioritize displaying set equipment suitable for the training plan. Among the protagonist's costume accessories, hats, hair ornaments, earrings, and glasses have been separated as universal parts, freely combinable with any costume. Additionally, the PC version has undergone a comprehensive visual upgrade. Players meeting the hardware requirements can enable real-time global illumination using ray tracing technology, and the update also supports DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation, providing a high-quality and smooth gameplay experience.

Regarding version bonuses, the new 'Early Access' feature allows Proxies to directly experience the Season 3 story. The battle form Pyrois and a Proxy costume themed for Season 3 will be distributed for free as a Season 3 departure gift, obtainable by participating in the Ver. 3.0 main story. Furthermore, over the next several versions, all of Pyrois's Mindscape Cinema and signature W-Engines will be distributed sequentially. Proxies will also receive a total of 1600 Polychromes—600 Polychromes upon logging in on the version update day, and the remaining 1000 Polychromes on July 4th, the second anniversary of Zenless Zone Zero's official release.

Zenless Zone Zero Ver. 3.0 'Confessions of a Dreamer' will be officially released on June 17, 2026, on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox Cloud Gaming, PC, iOS, and Android.
