A Must-See: Haruka Fukuhara Sings and Dances with 'Osomatsu-san' While Tapping a Bucket at a Public Bath! CD Energy's New TV Commercial to Air from June 12th

CD Energy Direct Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Hiroyuki Iwai) will begin airing its new TV commercial 'A・B・CD Energy Sento Edition' featuring its ambassador, Haruka Fukuhara, from Friday, June 12th. This new TV commercial is also the company's first collaboration with the TV anime 'Osomatsu-san', which is celebrating its 10th anniversary and will have a live-action film adaptation released on the same day.

In addition to the new TV commercial, a making-of video capturing the commercial shoot and an interview video with Ms. Fukuhara are scheduled to be released. Please check them out on the official YouTube channel.

[Story of CD Energy's New TV Commercial 'A・B・CD Energy Sento Edition']

This new TV commercial is set in a public bath (sento), a familiar setting in 'Osomatsu-san', where gas and electricity are used. As Ms. Fukuhara hums the familiar 'A・B・CD Energy' song while cleaning the bathhouse—a song whose quirky, offbeat nature became a topic of conversation in the previous commercial 'Riverbank Edition'—the six 'Osomatsu-san' characters, who are bathhouse patrons, join in with the next lines. Finally, Ms. Fukuhara, the six Sextuplets, and the other bathhouse patrons all sing together. Pay attention to Ms. Fukuhara, who looks happy as she taps a bucket in rhythm with the chorus.

[Filming Episode]

For this shoot, set in a public bath—a familiar setting in 'Osomatsu-san' where gas and electricity are used—Ms. Fukuhara took on the challenge of singing the CM song with the six 'Osomatsu-san' characters. In the scene where she calls out to the six characters in the men's bath, the director repeatedly checked her delivery and tone, giving a glimpse of Ms. Fukuhara's dedication. During the filming of the scene where she sings while tapping a bucket, she couldn't quite get the rhythm right at first, at one point apologizing with an embarrassed expression, 'I'm sorry!' In between takes, she chatted cheerfully with the staff, showing her characteristic bright smile, and the shoot proceeded in a warm and friendly atmosphere throughout.

[Special Interview (Excerpt)]

Q: This was a collaboration CM with 'Osomatsu-san'. How was it?

A: It was my first time working with the six 'Osomatsu-san' characters, so I was really looking forward to it. Also, this CM was brighter, more energetic, and more fun than ever before, so the shoot was enjoyable from start to finish, and it felt like it was over in a flash.

Q: Please tell us the highlights of the new CM.

A: I think the part where I sing and dance while tapping a bucket together with the six uniquely individual 'Osomatsu-san' characters makes it a fun CM that really gives you energy when you watch it.

Q: The shoot was at a public bath this time. Do you have any particular routines or essential items for bath time?

A: I was singing this time too, but I really like listening to music and singing, so I always play music in the bath and enjoy singing along or just listening. Also, I always put in bath salts to help me relax.

Q: The new CM features you singing the CM song with the six 'Osomatsu-san' characters. If you could enjoy any activity with them, what would you like to do?

A: They're all so uniquely individual that I think anything would be fun, but since we sang together this time and it was really enjoyable, I'd like to go for a drive and sing our hearts out together.

Q: What is an indispensable source of energy for you these days?

A: For me, it's food. I just love eating so much that I often think about what I'll eat the next day before I go to sleep. So I create a little reward for myself every day, and I work thinking, 'I'll do my best today so I can eat that.' Lately, I've been really into steamed dishes (seiro-mushi), eating them about four times a week. I'm really hooked on simply putting in as many seasonal vegetables or whatever vegetables I have at home as I can, and eating them with just salt and olive oil.

Q: Summer is the season when great deals on electricity and gas plans like 'CD Energy' become essential for beating the heat. Is there anything indispensable for you in the summer?

A: I really love fireworks in the summer, so no matter how busy I am, I go to a fireworks display every year. Spending time watching fireworks with friends or family makes me happy in the summer.

Q: Last year you mentioned 'waterfall training' (takigyo). What would you like to do this summer?

A: I still haven't done the waterfall training, so I'd like to try it this year. Also, I've never tried surfing, so I'd like to do that someday in the summer. I want to ride a surfboard and coolly catch a wave.

[Haruka Fukuhara Profile]

Born August 28, 1998, from Saitama Prefecture. Actress, singer, and voice actress.

In recent years, she has appeared in drama works such as 'Kyojou II' (2021/Fuji TV), 'Seijuu Fudousan' (2022/NHK), and the morning drama 'Maiagare!' (as heroine Iwakura Mai). Last year, she appeared in NHK's 'Seijuu Fudousan 2' (co-lead), Nippon TV's 'Maruhi no Mitsuko-san' (lead), the Taiga drama 'Berabou ~Tsuruyo Eiga no Yume Banashi~', and 'Ashita wa Motto, Ii Hi ni Naru' (lead).

The movie 'Seijuu Fudousan' is currently in theaters. In August, the movie 'Ano Hoshi ga Furu Oka de, Kimi to Mata Deaitai.' is scheduled for release.

In 2015, as a commemorative work for the 80th anniversary of the birth of Fujio Akatsuka, this story depicts the grown-up sextuplets based on Fujio Akatsuka's classic gag manga 'Osomatsu-kun'.
