Ancar Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: 2-13-34 Izumi, Suginami-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Fumiaki Okuno) announced today that it will change its company name to Cargent Co., Ltd. and its service name from "Ancar" to "Cargent," with the aim of further contributing to car users and the entire industry, and accelerating business growth.
Building upon our achievements and trust to date, we will continue to evolve our car services and accelerate business growth.
Background of the Change
Until now, as "Ancar," we have operated a peer-to-peer car trading marketplace, working to solve issues such as intermediate costs and complicated procedures in existing automobile distribution.
In peer-to-peer transactions, while sellers can sell at a higher price and buyers can purchase at a lower price due to reduced intermediate costs, challenges such as name transfer, transportation, and quality assurance also exist.
On the other hand, in the used car industry, web-based customer acquisition and digitalization of operations are not sufficiently advanced. Furthermore, recent scandals have cast a harsh light on the entire industry, creating a structural problem where honest businesses are not fairly evaluated.
To address these challenges, we have been working to enhance our online functions and build a system where our affiliated nationwide dealerships serve as "direct sales offices."
In 2024, we also established a strategic partnership with Hattori Motors Co., Ltd., which operates a wide range of businesses including automobile sales, purchase, and maintenance. Under their capital participation, we have been strengthening our business foundation.
This has enabled us to expand the quality and scope of our services by utilizing Hattori Motors' diverse resources and network in automobile distribution, purchase and sales, and maintenance. We have established a foundation to further deepen our contribution to the entire industry, not only through providing value to car users but also by expanding partnerships with dealerships nationwide.
Based on these factors, we have decided to refresh our company name and brand to achieve further contribution to car users and the entire industry, and to accelerate business growth.
Service Evolution and Future Outlook
With the new brand "Cargent," while inheriting our past achievements and trust, we will proceed with the following service evolutions to further enhance the user experience and provide car services that are even more tailored to our customers' needs:
1. New implementation of "My Page" where sellers can check sales status in real-time.
2. Provision of AI-powered self-listing function (allowing cars to be sold while parked in the garage) (scheduled for around June 2026).
3. Expansion of the Cargent network (currently 18 locations, aiming for 100 locations by the end of 2026).
4. Commencement of services for dealerships (strengthening collaboration within the Cargent network using AI, deploying business support tools, etc.).
This will create an environment where sellers can proceed with transactions confidently while understanding the situation, and provide a more efficient and less burdensome selling experience.
Moving forward, through the fusion of technology and real-world services, Cargent will continue to create new car services without being bound by conventional frameworks.
Please note that our traditional service content and business relationships will remain unchanged.
