About 'The Ice Age Sauna'

'The Ice Age Sauna' is a short film set in the future year 2180, when the world has entered an ice age.

Set in a world ravaged by extreme climate change, the short film depicts the dialogue that arises through saunas and the inherent warmth of human beings.

The film was shot in Hokkaido and completed in September 2023. Its runtime is 12 minutes and 45 seconds. Yusuke Yoshida served as director, scriptwriter, and cinematographer.

Director Yusuke Yoshida's Comment

The inspiration for making this film came from an experience of having casual conversations with local people through a sauna in an unfamiliar place.

I wanted to capture the warmth that people inherently possess in that moment and decided to create this film.

I am deeply honored to have my work received across countries and cultures and to receive such a wonderful award.
