'When the Camellia Blooms' is a pure-love romance period drama set in the Joseon era under a prohibition order, following a woman who makes a living through illegal liquor brewing and the government official tasked with cracking down on alcohol. While a romance period drama at its core, the series captivated viewers with its deeply layered storytelling, skillfully blending mystery elements and past entanglements. Lead actress Lee Hyeri won the Female Excellence Award in the Mini-Series category at the KBS Drama Awards, while co-stars Byeon Woo-seok and Kang Mina [gugudan] took home Rookie Awards, making the show a showcase for up-and-coming talent.

Lead actor Yoo Seung-ho is a former child actor who has built a reputation as a skilled performer, having appeared in Korean adaptations of Japanese works such as 'Dragon Zakura.' Active across both drama and film, he returns to a period drama for the first time in roughly four years since 'The Emperor: Owner of the Mask, playing Yeon — a rigid yet dignified official. Playing Roso — a young woman of noble birth who turns to illicit brewing to pay off debt — is Lee Hyeri, known for 'Good Manager' and 'My Roommate Is a Gumiho.'
