Gakken Releases "Saikyo O-zukan Reward Drill" Workbooks for Summer Vacation Learning for 1st and 2nd Graders

Gakken Co., Ltd. (Shinagawa, Tokyo / President: Tatsuya Nanjo), a group company of Gakken Holdings Co., Ltd. (Shinagawa, Tokyo / President: Hiroaki Miyahara), has simultaneously released two new workbooks on June 18, 2026: the "Summer Vacation Saikyo O-zukan Reward Drill 1st Grade" and "Summer Vacation Saikyo O-zukan Reward Drill 2nd Grade."

■ Make Summer Learning Fun with "Saikyo O"! Announcing the "Summer Vacation Saikyo O-zukan Reward Drill" for 1st and 2nd Graders!!
The highly popular "Saikyo O-zukan" drill series, acclaimed for making learning fun, now has a summer vacation edition. Versions for first and second graders are being released simultaneously, perfectly covering the first semester's review for four subjects: Japanese, Math, English, and Life Skills, all in one book!

■ Igniting Motivation with a "Reward System"!
This is no ordinary summer workbook. As the "Reward Drill" title suggests, it incorporates an unprecedented "reward system" for a study drill, designed to fire up children's motivation. There are two types of rewards!
The first is a "Completion Certificate," which children can receive by finishing the entire drill and applying. Each drill session is a "battle (mission)." Upon victory, children cut out the "mission ticket" at the bottom right of the page and paste it onto the "sticker sheet" at the back. Once all 36 battle tickets are collected and sent in, they will receive an awesome "Completion Certificate"!
The second reward is a "Reward Ticket" for use within the family. These can be used to set custom rewards for tackling the drill, creating a pact of "mission accomplished ⇔ reward." You can set rules together with your child, like "one ice cream for this mission!" or "30 minutes of game time for a perfect score!" to make learning fun.

■ Team Up with the Strongest Kings to Aim for Victory!
The drills feature numerous Strongest Kings! In this edition, children team up with characters like the Great Tengu and Odin to advance through battles. Their partner king will offer advice and point out key things to watch for. Many questions are themed around the Strongest Kings, making learning enjoyable and memorable.

■ An Extra Workbook for Summer Studies
Also available are the "Saikyo O-zukan Drill: Japanese & Math" for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders, and the "Saikyo O-zukan Drill: Proverbs, Idioms, & Four-Character Idioms." Studying these in addition to the summer drill will prepare students for the new semester.
