Surala Net Inc. (headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Takahiko Yunokawa), developer and provider of the adaptive, interactive ICT learning platform 'Surala' powered by AI, has announced the adoption of 'Surala' at Aichi Prefectural Aichi Comprehensive Engineering High School Junior Division (Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture), which opened in April 2026. The 35 students enrolled in the first academic year have already begun using 'Surala'.

The school is Japan's first engineering-focused high school with an integrated junior-senior curriculum, making it a pioneering educational model. Leveraging the region's strong manufacturing industry, the school aims to cultivate future talent for industry while placing 'developing self-directed learners' at the core of its educational philosophy. To achieve this, it implements initiatives such as 'Challenge 100,' where students discover their interests through diverse experiences; a team homeroom system where multiple teachers support each student; and inquiry-based lessons across all subjects.

In this educational framework, it is essential for students to firmly grasp the fundamentals of each subject. As a foundation for learning, the school utilizes 'Surala' for foundational studies in five core subjects: Japanese, Mathematics, English, Science, and Social Studies. By creating an environment where students can review and advance their learning—including in the 'Information' subject—according to their individual understanding, the school establishes a solid base for students to actively engage in inquiry-based learning.

'Surala' features easy-to-understand animated lectures and AI-driven adaptive problem delivery that automatically adjusts learning content and difficulty based on each student's comprehension level. Through visualization of learning progress and automatic generation of personalized review assignments, 'Surala' supports the solidification of foundational academic skills and enables students to resolve misunderstandings immediately as they learn.

Instead of traditional periodic exams common in most junior high schools, the school emphasizes two key assessments: 'Unit Tests,' which measure understanding and serve as academic records, and 'Achievement Tests,' which help students self-assess their understanding and adjust their learning strategies. 'Surala' supports this assessment system by visualizing comprehension based on learning data and automatically suggesting review tasks, thereby reinforcing a continuous learning cycle aligned with 'Unit Tests.' This enables students to accumulate successful experiences of 'understanding' and 'being able to do,' fostering autonomous learning.

Additionally, 'Surala' contributes to reducing teachers' workload through efficient test creation and grading, allowing educators to focus on essential instructional activities such as student dialogue and guiding inquiry-based projects.

With this implementation, the school aims to connect diverse experiences from 'Challenge 100' with subject learning, cultivating students' ability to identify their own challenges and continue learning independently.

Comment from Mr. Kenshi Onda, Vice Principal, Aichi Prefectural Aichi Comprehensive Engineering High School Junior Division:

"Students reflecting on their learning and experiences to identify their next goals and challenges—this continuous process embodies our vision of a 'self-directed learner.' To cultivate such learners, students must naturally develop the ability to 'nurture their own learning' through daily study. We decided to introduce 'Surala' because we believe it will serve as a reliable companion, helping students solidify their foundational knowledge at their own pace and confidently progress to the next stage of learning.

Solidifying basic academic skills at one's own pace forms the foundation for inquiry-based learning. By leveraging 'Surala' and creating an environment where students can proactively engage with not only the five core subjects but also information technology and engineering content, we hope to foster confidence and motivation in learning, enabling our students to grow into talents who will support the future manufacturing society."

Surala Net will continue to support innovative educational practices and contribute to realizing learning experiences where every diverse child can feel 'understanding, capability, and enjoyment.'

AI × Adaptive Learning Platform 'Surala'

'Surala' is an adaptive ICT learning platform that enables students to study six subjects—Japanese, Mathematics, English, Science, Social Studies, and Information I—from elementary through high school levels alongside animated instructor characters, with content tailored to each student's comprehension level. Through lecture, drill, and test functions, it enables a continuous cycle of 'understanding → mastery → application' customized to individual academic levels, achieving comprehensive understanding and retention in one integrated system. A key feature is that students can independently progress through new topics even when studying alone. 'Surala' is widely used in tutoring centers, elementary, junior high, and high schools, higher education institutions, after-school day services, and personal learning settings.
