Torishima Participates in Inauguration Ceremony for Egypt's 'New Delta' National Project

Torishima Pump Mfg. Co., Ltd. (hereinafter 'Torishima') attended the inauguration ceremony for the massive pumping station at the heart of the 'New Delta Project,' Egypt's largest-scale land reclamation project, held on May 17, 2026. The full-scale launch of this project marks a historic milestone in Torishima's global expansion. The ceremony was attended by high-ranking government officials, including President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and was extensively covered by local media. In addition to the Japanese Ambassador to Egypt, Torishima was represented by COO Alistair Flett and Middle East General Manager Ashraf Saleh. Being invited to such a prestigious national event serves as evidence of the high regard for Torishima's contributions to this major national infrastructure project. For this project, Torishima supplied a total of 49 large vertical mixed-flow pumps. These pumps support the irrigation of approximately 2.2 million feddans (approx. 920,000 hectares) of farmland—an area comparable to the total land area of Kagoshima Prefecture—dramatically transforming barren deserts into fertile land. Furthermore, the Egyptian government has announced a national plan to expand farmland to 8 million feddans (approx. 3.36 million hectares), roughly four times the current size. As a core partner in one of Africa's largest infrastructure projects, Torishima will continue to pursue long-term business development while contributing to the country's food self-sufficiency and the stable livelihoods of its citizens.
