Her home, savings, even her family were taken by the "Adult Guardianship System." The cries of victims whose lives were ruined by this system, which is supposed to help those in need of support.
❑ Synopsis
The "Adult Guardianship System" is a mechanism where a "guardian" supports the maintenance and improvement of a person's quality of life by protecting their assets on behalf of individuals with insufficient decision-making capacity due to dementia, intellectual disabilities, mental disabilities, etc.
Guardians are supposed to respect the person's will and self-determination rights while managing their assets and creating an environment where they can live with peace of mind. However, cases of tragedy are frequently occurring due to the abusive operations of guardians, such as lawyers, promoted by the government.
The shocking reality told by victims who lost everything—their homes, their hard-earned assets, their only family—to the system.
It's not impossible for a similar tragedy to befall you tomorrow--.
❏ Highlights of the Work
This work depicts a tragedy closely related to dementia in Japan's super-aged society, a tragedy that concerns everyone living in this country.
The story is based entirely on actual cases, drawing from the real-life experiences of scenario writer Juri Yamaguchi and the raw testimonies gathered from victims' families by journalist Manabu Hasegawa. Its overwhelming realism, which unflinchingly portrays the dark side of the Adult Guardianship System, is its greatest appeal.
