Hansan Co., Ltd. (CEO: Eiji Sakai), which bridges Japanese traditional beauty and modern culture, will release three giclée prints from the popular "Neon Ukiyo-e Godzilla" series on June 12th through Hansan's online shop, "Ukiyo-e Kobo."
This product lineup includes "Shinjuku" and "Osaka," which were previously released as fabric boards and received acclaim, along with the new "Sapporo." These are art pieces that depict the scene of Godzilla suddenly appearing in a modern city, rendered in the unique worldview of "Neon Ukiyo-e."
"Neon Ukiyo-e": A Fusion of Ukiyo-e and Cyberpunk
This series is an art series that fuses the composition and atmosphere of Ukiyo-e, a traditional Japanese art form, with the cyberpunk expression of neon-lit modern cities.
Godzilla faintly appearing in the night sky, the light of neon signs, and a girl noticing the anomaly – These works possess a dramatic quality reminiscent of a movie scene, and a horror-like direction that depicts the "extraordinary lurking within the ordinary," which is a major appeal of this series.
Furthermore, these works are produced as giclée prints on Japanese paper (washi). The soft texture unique to washi paper, combined with calm color expressions, creates a nostalgic and fantastical atmosphere amidst the vivid neon depictions.
New Work "Sapporo no Zu" (Scene of Sapporo) Arrives
An Homage to "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah"
The new "Neon Ukiyo-e Godzilla Sapporo no Zu Giclée Print" is a piece set in Sapporo's Susukino district.
It was created as an homage to the famous scene in "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah" (1991) where Godzilla battled around Sapporo TV Tower and Odori Park, and incorporates elements that evoke the film throughout.
The signs adorning the night cityscape feature parody expressions based on in-movie titles. Additionally, the silhouette of King Ghidorah is subtly hidden in the background, offering details that will captivate movie fans.
The girl who notices Godzilla's presence is depicted in the image of the character "Emmy Kano" from the film, adding further depth to the artwork's world.
Lineup Introduction
- Neon Ukiyo-e Godzilla Shinjuku no Zu Giclée Print

- Neon Ukiyo-e Godzilla Osaka no Zu Giclée Print
This piece portrays Godzilla's appearance in the neon-lit streets of Dotonbori. The city's hustle and bustle intersect with the presence of the monster, creating a unique sense of the extraordinary.
- Neon Ukiyo-e Godzilla Sapporo no Zu Giclée Print
A new work that fuses the night view of Susukino with an homage to "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah." This piece is filled with cinematic love and playfulness.
