Zen Kashoin

◼︎About Zen Kashoin

Zen Kashoin Kyoto Muromachi Main Store opened in August 2009 in a district lined with long-established kimono fabric merchants on Kyoto's Muromachi Street. The store's name embodies our desire to welcome customers with a "flowery heart" and to allow them to enjoy the true taste of confectionery. This machiya (traditional townhouse), rare in Kyoto for its wide frontage, is a renovated store built on the foundations of a structure from 1700 (Genroku 13). Upon passing through the noren (shop curtain), you enter a genkan (earthen floor area). The spacious interior, retaining the atmosphere of the past with its kama (kettle) and stone paving, displays freshly made sweets produced in the adjacent workshop. In the tea room, filled with the aroma of tea, you can spend a relaxing time while gazing at the inner garden.

We offer menus that can be savored with all five senses, in harmony with the ever-changing scenery of the seasons.
