【What is Dragon Quest?】
'Dragon Quest' is a representative role-playing game (RPG) series from Japan, where players become the protagonist to unravel a grand adventure story to defeat a demon lord threatening the world.
From the 'Dragon Quest' software for the Famicom released in 1986 to 'Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age' released in 2017, the series has consistently maintained a classic RPG worldview. At the same time, it has challenged the creation of new ways to play with technology appropriate for each era, such as adopting 3D maps, utilizing the 'Tag Mode' feature with wireless communication, online compatibility, and cloud play support.
In addition to I-XI, over 100 titles have been released, including the 'Dragon Quest Monsters' series focusing on monster training and battling, and the 'Dragon Quest Heroes' series, an action RPG where players can freely control characters with realistic expressions. The series has achieved a cumulative total of over 97 million units shipped and downloaded worldwide.
