Tokyo Ryutsu Center Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, TRC) announces that, as part of its environmental impact reduction initiatives, it will introduce "Non-Fossil Certificates"* for electricity used during events held at its facilities, thereby offering new added value towards the "realization of environmentally conscious events."

This initiative provides environmental value for electricity consumption associated with event hosting, enabling organizers to realize environmentally conscious events without the need for special capital investment or additional costs.

*"Non-Fossil Certificates"... A system that certifies the environmental value associated with power generation.

Background of This Initiative

In recent years, efforts toward realizing a decarbonized society have been positioned as a critical issue in overall corporate activities, and environmental considerations are becoming factors that influence business value and corporate evaluation.

Amidst this trend, various events such as exhibitions, trade fairs, and sales events are increasingly required to operate with environmental considerations, going beyond their roles as mere venues for attracting visitors and disseminating information.

In particular, since events consume a significant amount of electricity for lighting, equipment power, etc., how to reduce CO2 emissions has been a challenge.

As a member of the Mitsubishi Estate Group, we have been actively engaged in reducing environmental impact. We have already achieved 100% renewable energy for the electricity used in common areas within the TRC premises and for our own use by utilizing Non-Fossil Certificates, thereby maximizing environmental value.

Objectives and Overview of This Initiative

In addition to its functions as a logistics facility and office, TRC also serves as an exchange hub for events, forming a "town" in the Hiraoka area. Therefore, we believe it is important to promote environmentally conscious initiatives throughout the facility and provide a valuable space for all users.

Based on this foundation, TRC will now promote a system that achieves 100% renewable energy for electricity used during events (including air conditioning, lighting, and outlets) by utilizing Non-Fossil Certificates for the electricity consumed during event hosting.

Furthermore, a similar system is being established for electricity usage, including air conditioning, lighting, and outlets, in the conference rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Center Building, which can also be used as rental conference rooms.

This will provide event organizers and attendees with an environment that allows for high levels of environmental consideration in event operations, establishing a comprehensive support system for sustainable event hosting.

By offering the new added value of "realizing environmentally conscious events" through this initiative, we will meet the needs of companies and organizations that increasingly emphasize ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and sustainability, which have been gaining importance in recent years. Additionally, by using our facilities, companies can visualize their concrete contributions to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and SDGs, which have been gaining momentum, and use this as a means of external communication. This is expected to contribute to the improvement of user companies' brand value and social reputation.

As a member of the Mitsubishi Estate Group, we will continue to deepen our efforts toward realizing a decarbonized society by reducing environmental impact.

*The final confirmed figures for electricity consumption will be determined after the end of the fiscal year, and the final offsetting of CO2 emissions will be carried out after the end of the fiscal year.

Introduction of Non-Fossil Certificates in This Initiative

TRC's Environmental Initiatives

As a designated greenhouse gas reduction business office under the Tokyo Metropolitan Environmental Security Ordinance, TRC has actively worked to reduce CO2 emissions through the introduction of energy-saving equipment, improvements in operational methods, and enhancement of energy-saving performance by rebuilding Logistics Buildings A and B. As a result, total CO2 equivalent emissions have been reduced by 58% compared to the standard emission level as of fiscal year 2022, and we continue to strive for further reductions in collaboration with tenants and partner companies.

Furthermore, in line with "RE100," which aims for companies to cover 100% of their business electricity consumption with renewable energy, we achieved 100% renewable energy procurement for electricity usage in common areas and other areas in fiscal year 2023. We are also focusing on promoting resource circulation, with the waste recycling rate significantly improving to 74.5% in fiscal year 2023 from 40.1% in the previous year.
