■ "Musou Kahin": A Unique and Supreme Mark
This product is a title given only to the "one and only" seaweed of that year, ultimately decided by the company's chairman and president after actual tasting, from several types of seaweed carefully selected by sorting technicians with many years of experience.
In its production, as a specialty seaweed store, we meticulously roast the seaweed to maximize its umami, carefully determining the optimal temperature and heating time for each type of seaweed.
Its product name originates from the fact that Yamaoka Tesshu, a swordsman and master calligrapher of the Meiji era, praised our seaweed as "Tokai Meisan Musou Kahin" (Unrivaled Masterpiece of Tokai's Famous Products) and wrote it in calligraphy.
Tokujiro, the second-generation owner who invented "seasoned seaweed," became acquainted with Yamaoka Tesshu while attending Chiba Shusaku's Genbukan Dojo in Kanda Otamagaike, famous for the Hokushin Itto-ryu sword style. This product was named "Musou Kahin," meaning "an unparalleled item," in honor of that calligraphy. The characters imprinted on the product design today are based on Tesshu's calligraphy from that time.
