Usami Shokakudo, which began its journey as a purveyor to Honganji Temple in Kyoto, has long been responsible for the restoration of national treasures and important cultural properties. Its mission is to restore cultural properties as "historical materials connecting to the future" by fusing traditional techniques with chemical knowledge. By applying the knowledge gained from conservation and restoration to the production of mounting (hyogu), a virtuous cycle has been established where "creating" and "repairing" mutually enhance each other. Rooted in the aesthetic sense and trust cultivated in the thousand-year capital, the company passes on the value of cultural heritage to the next generation.
