Orkos, a proposal ring brand operated by Tsuchiya Co., Ltd. (trading as Jewelry Tsuchiya, located in Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture), conducted an original survey under the supervision of the Japan Proposal Advisor Association. The survey targeted 93 men who used Orkos proposal rings to propose within the past six years and subsequently became engaged.
This survey examined changes in attitudes toward weddings, photo weddings, destination weddings, and other bridal events after a successful proposal, as well as the status of bridal event planning and perspectives on engagement and wedding rings.
As a result, among men who have implemented or plan to implement bridal events, 74.7% said that their experience of their partner's joy during the proposal 'greatly influenced' or 'somewhat influenced' their motivation to pursue weddings, destination weddings, or photo weddings.
Additionally, 69.9% of men reported a more positive attitude toward weddings, photo weddings, and destination weddings after a successful proposal. 65.6% began discussing weddings or wedding-related plans within one month of the proposal, rising to 82.8% within three months.
These findings suggest that a proposal is not merely a moment to convey engagement intentions, but also a significant success experience for men—'making their partner happy'—which may lead to proactive actions toward future bridal events.

"She was delighted by the surprise, so I want to create similar joyful moments during the wedding."
"Seeing her so happy made me want our wedding to be a lifelong memorable experience."
"She was even happier than I imagined, so I don't want this moment to be the peak of our relationship."
"Proposing made me realize the importance of milestones. My feelings naturally moved toward the next step."

Figure 2: Change in Attitude Toward Bridal Events Before and After Proposal Success
This positive shift was observed not only among those already interested but also among those who were hesitant or had not previously considered such events. A proposal may not be an endpoint but rather an entry point to discussing the couple's future together.
3. 65.6% Began Discussing Weddings Within One Month
Regarding when men first discussed weddings or wedding plans after a successful proposal, 33.3% said 'within one week,' and 32.3% said 'within one month,' totaling 65.6% within one month. Within three months, the figure rose to 82.8%.
Figure 3: Timing of First Discussion About Weddings or Weddings After Proposal Success

5. Not Purchasing an Engagement Ring Does Not Indicate Disinterest in Bridal Events
In this survey, 53.8% of men answered they did not purchase an engagement ring after the proposal. However, among the 50 men who did not purchase an engagement ring, 43 are implementing or planning bridal events such as weddings or photo weddings—86.0%.
Figure 5: Engagement Ring Purchase Status and Bridal Event Planning Among Those Who Did Not Purchase
This result suggests that choosing not to purchase an engagement ring does not necessarily indicate disinterest in marriage preparation or bridal events. Giving a ring, holding a wedding, preserving memories through photos, going on a honeymoon, or having a family dinner—all choices are meaningful expressions of love as long as both partners agree.
Orkos, while being a jewelry brand, believes it is important not to judge the value of a proposal or marriage preparation solely by the presence or absence of an engagement ring, but rather to support couples in beginning their future in a way that suits them.
Comment from Michiteru Tsuchiya, Director of Orkos Proposal Ring
A proposal is a crucial moment to convey the intention to marry. However, this survey revealed that a proposal is not an endpoint, but rather a starting point for discussing the couple's future.
What stood out was how the partner's joy directly influenced the man's subsequent actions. She was happy. My feelings were accepted. That experience became a significant success for the man as well.
