New pianist Lee Hyuk makes his debut at Yatsugatake Highland Music Hall.

A must-hear new talent makes his debut.

The youngest winner in history of the Paderewski International Piano Competition in 2016, winner of the Long-Thibaud International Piano Competition in 2022, and other achievements, this young pianist has built a solid reputation on the international stage. His program, which can be seen as his calling card, features Chopin, Scriabin, who admired Chopin, and Kapustin, who incorporates jazz language.

Andreas Staier, a pioneer of the German early music scene, is running at the forefront of the European early music scene. His performance of the Goldberg Variations, which has been praised as a masterpiece that renews the impression of the famous Gould recording, will resonate in the late autumn of Yatsugatake. In 2024, he received the "Bach Medal" from the city of Leipzig. A monumental night with the Yatsugatake Larch Harpsichord, which has taken 8 years to become "an instrument rooted in the land."

About Yatsugatake Highland Music Hall

A beautiful hexagon that blends into the highlands. The warmth of wood. A 250-seat hall that brings out the beauty of Japanese architecture.

The impetus for the creation of Yatsugatake Highland Music Hall was a record listening party held at Yatsugatake Highland Hut by villa owners who loved music in 1974. Gradually, the circle expanded, and in August of the following year, the first "Yatsugatake Highland Salon Concert" was held. Later, the venue moved from the hut to the lodge (hotel), and in 1988, Yatsugatake Highland Music Hall was completed.

Yatsugatake Highland Music Hall, which was born from the advice of Svyatoslav Richter and Toru Takemitsu, "a building that can be used anywhere in the world." Designed by Yoshimura Junzo, a master of Japanese modern architecture, it won the "1989 Mainichi Art Award" and the "1989 Tokyo Creation Grand Prize Environmental Award" as a beautiful building that harmonizes with nature and the environment. With a reverberation time of 1.6 seconds, ideal for a small hall for chamber music performances. Yatsugatake Highland Lodge hosts about 100 "Yatsugatake Highland Salon Concerts" annually, which combine accommodation and concerts.
