MUFG Bank, Ltd. (hereinafter 'the Bank'), a consolidated subsidiary of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (MUFG), together with Mitsubishi UFJ NICOS Co., Ltd. (hereinafter 'Mitsubishi UFJ NICOS'), has launched a cashless initiative for students in collaboration with universities. The aim is to promote the adoption and enhance the convenience of cashless payments in university life. As the first phase, the initiative will be rolled out sequentially at Aichi Gakuin University (Meijokoen Campus), Kanagawa University Co-operative Association, Tokai University (Shonan Campus: 8 Bab Restaurants, 14 Cafe Lounges), Yokkaichi University, Yokkaichi Nursing and Medical Care University, Taisho University (Sugamo Campus), and Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), among others. The program will expand to more target universities and campuses. This initiative offers rebates on payments made using the prepaid mobile payment app 'Global Points Wallet' provided by Mitsubishi UFJ NICOS. By enabling not only credit cards but also bank accounts as charging methods, the program aims to provide a convenient payment environment for students and create opportunities for them to open accounts or sign up for cards. Background and Purpose In recent years, cashless payments have become an important payment method in daily life, and there is a growing need for highly convenient payment methods in university settings, such as cafeterias and shops. In response to this changing environment, MUFG Bank and Mitsubishi UFJ NICOS aim to create opportunities for students to use cashless payments on campus daily, thereby improving convenience and expanding touchpoints with financial services. This initiative not only allows students to experience the convenience of cashless payments in their daily lives but also helps build connections between students and financial services, including account openings and card memberships, through the familiar process of charging from a bank account. Furthermore, by promoting the use of cashless payments on university campuses, the program contributes to creating a highly convenient payment environment for both universities and students. Initiative Overview 1. Details At cafeterias and cafe facilities within target universities, 20% of the total amount paid using 'Global Points Wallet' (up to 4,000 yen) will be rebated as charge balance. 2. Period Monday, May 11, 2026 – Friday, July 31, 2026 3. Rebate Details Rebate Rate: 20% of the usage amount * Breakdown: 19.5% (initiative portion) + 0.5% (automatic cashback portion) Rebate Cap: 4,000 yen Rebate Timing: Scheduled for September 2026 * A 20% rebate will be applied to the total usage amount during the period. 4. Download the 'Global Points Wallet' app. 2. Charge it using a Mitsubishi UFJ card or bank account. 3. Set up 'Global Points Wallet' on Apple Pay or Google Pay. 4. Make payments using Visa or QUICPay+ (*) tap payment with 'Global Points Wallet' at facilities within the target university. (*) Google Pay cannot be used at QUICPay+ member stores. Roles of Each Party MUFG Bank: Creating financial touchpoints with students, providing bank account charging pathways, and planning and promoting the overall initiative. Mitsubishi UFJ NICOS: Providing 'Global Points Wallet', operating the payment infrastructure and rebate program. 'Global Points Wallet' is a mobile payment app provided by Mitsubishi UFJ NICOS. Users can charge Global Points earned from using a 'Mitsubishi UFJ Card' into the app balance at a rate of 1 point = 5 yen and use them for tap payments at Visa or QUICPay+ member stores nationwide. It also supports charging from credit cards and bank accounts, making it convenient for various situations. Features of 'Global Points Wallet' (1) Smartphone payment with accumulated points Charge Global Points into 'Global Points Wallet' at a rate of 1 point = 5 yen. Set it up on Apple Pay or Google Pay™ to use Visa or QUICPay+ tap payments. An automatic cashback of 0.5% of the usage amount is credited to the app balance on the 10th of every month. * Google Pay cannot be used at QUICPay+ member stores. (2) Charging from sources other than Global Points In addition to Global Points, 'Global Points Wallet' can be charged using credit cards from the company and its franchisees, as well as bank accounts and debit cards (excluding Mitsubishi UFJ Debit) from the company's partner financial institutions. (3) Equipped with safety and security features Features include usage amount limits (per transaction and per month), real-time usage notifications, and the ability to temporarily suspend or resume usage.
