LUMINE Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Teruyuki Omote) will host the fourth edition of the "LUMINE & NEWoMan ETHICARNIVAL" from Thursday, July 16, 2026. This campaign, held at LUMINE and NEWoMan stores, evolved from traditional summer and winter sales, aiming not merely at discounts but offering customers an enriching experience centered on ethical products and activities that allow them to fully enjoy the season.

LUMINE has long been critical of large-scale discounting based on mass production and the disposal of surplus inventory. Instead, the company has focused on strengthening regular-price sales, emphasizing thoughtful customer service and promoting high-value products. Recently, with growing consumer awareness around sustainability, more customers are seeking mindful, satisfying shopping experiences. As such, beyond simple price reductions, there is increasing demand for multifaceted value propositions during sales periods. Against this backdrop, LUMINE launched the "LUMINE & NEWoMan ETHICARNIVAL" starting in winter 2024, centered on the concept of "fully enjoying the season."

The fourth edition, themed "Making Hot Summer Days Even More Enjoyable," features an evolved version of last year’s highly successful "Cosmetics Collection & Upcycling Campaign," now enhanced into a participatory upcycling experience. Additionally, a diverse lineup of seasonal events—including fashion, food, and community collaboration initiatives—will be offered across all locations to help customers make the most of the long summer.

Evolution of the Cosmetics Collection & Upcycling Campaign

Following last year’s successful collection of approximately 28,600 unused cosmetics, the "Cosmetics Collection & Upcycling Campaign" returns this year at 11 locations.

Customers who bring in unused cosmetics from home will receive shopping vouchers redeemable at the stores.

The collected cosmetics will be upcycled into new products within LUMINE stores—such as color materials for "Rumijo Gacha" keychains or paints used in workshops.

Last year’s results:

・Number collected: approx. 28,600 items

・Total weight: approx. 517kg (containers + contents)

・CO2 reduction: approx. 498.4kg

・Reduction rate: 84.7%

<This Year’s Edition: A Participatory Upcycling Experience Featuring Sorting and Beyond>

This year, the campaign expands beyond mere collection to include a hands-on "sorting experience." Since cosmetics cannot be recycled as-is, they must first be separated into contents and containers before being transformed into new products. Customers are now invited to participate in all three stages—"bringing in," "sorting," and "witnessing rebirth"—making it an engaging way to experience the circular economy firsthand.

This time, popular brands such as "amritara" and "MAMMABABY" will make their debut, with around 30 brands expected, including brands carried by "Cosme Kitchen" and award-winning sustainable cosmetics brands.
