JR Yamanote Line, Rent Price Ranking of Affordable Stations 2026: 1st Place Tabata ¥98,000, Highest Yurakucho ¥154,000

Recruit Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Keiichi Ushida; hereinafter Recruit), operator of the news site "SUUMO Journal," conducts surveys on various themes related to housing and living and shares the results. This time, we investigated how much rent is needed to live along the JR Yamanote Line, which connects 30 stations in major Tokyo areas in a loop and has many terminal stations connecting to lines heading in various directions. We present a rent price ranking for rental properties for single individuals (10 sqm to less than 40 sqm, studio, 1K, 1DK). The lowest rent price was at Tabata Station, and the highest was at Yurakucho Station.

■1st Place is Tabata Station with High Shopping Convenience

Along the JR Yamanote Line, the rental property with the lowest rent price for singles (10 sqm to less than 40 sqm, studio, 1K, 1DK) was Tabata Station, with a rent price of ¥98,000. Located in Kita Ward, it is served by the JR Yamanote Line and the Keihin-Tohoku Line. A station building is attached to the north side of the station, with a supermarket, drug store, and restaurants spread across three floors. Around the station, there are multiple supermarkets and convenience stores, as well as casual fast-food restaurants, diners, and ramen shops. Between Tabata Station and the adjacent Komagome Station (10th place, rent price ¥110,000), there is a shopping street lined with individual stores, making it a perfect town for those seeking a quiet life.

Second place is Otsuka Station in Toshima Ward, with a rent price of ¥99,000, an increase of ¥1,000 from first place. Near the JR station is the Toden Arakawa Line's Otsuka-ekimae Station, allowing access to two lines. The station building on the south side of the station houses shops for food, fashion, and miscellaneous goods, as well as a bookstore and restaurants, spread across floors B1 to 4. The upper floors of the building are used for a sports gym and offices. Both the south and north sides of the station have shopping streets lined with various restaurants, convenience stores, discount stores, and 100-yen shops. Additionally, a 15-minute walk south from the station leads to a shopping mall, making it easy to access the Ikebukuro area.
