Mintcan Japan, based in Naha City, Okinawa, will release its new product, 'Shurijo Sable,' inspired by the Shurijo Castle main hall, on June 12, 2026.

'Shurijo Sable' is a baked snack developed under the concept of 'Bringing Okinawa home in a box.' It was created to allow customers to relive their memories even after leaving Okinawa.

The product is based on the Shurijo Castle main hall, an icon of Okinawa. Not only is the shape of the sable itself based on the main hall, but the packaging design also adopts the building, aiming to provide an 'experience of bringing back memories' rather than just being a snack from a tourist destination.

The product was born while watching the reconstruction following the Shurijo Castle fire on October 31, 2019. Now that reconstruction work is progressing and the future of Shurijo Castle is slowly coming into view, the goal is to share its charm once again.

The packaging was designed by Takahiro Tamaki, representative of HAND SIGNPAINTERS, who is active both inside and outside Okinawa. He designed it one by one by hand to balance the grandeur of Shurijo Castle with a sense of accessibility.

The sable comes in a plain flavor suitable for a wide range of generations, featuring 28% fermented butter for a crisp texture and a gentle sweetness.

Furthermore, the company has introduced a donation system where 5 yen per box is donated to the community development of Shuri, aiming to foster unity among purchasers, producers, and everyone involved to support the castle's reconstruction and the revitalization of the town.
