Turning Extreme Heat into a Refuge: 'Stayable Botanical Garden' Rinne Launches 'Chilly Botanical Resort', a Stay-Type Summer Retreat into Nature

Japan's first 'stayable botanical garden', THE BOTANICAL RESORT Rinne (hereafter 'Rinne'), will launch a new summer stay experience project called the 'Chilly Botanical Resort' for a limited time starting in July 2026, amidst recent extreme heatwaves, providing a comfortable environment in nature.

Taking advantage of its location as a botanical garden surrounded by forests that integrates accommodation, hot springs, dining, and activities, this project overturns the conventional idea that 'summer outdoors is hot'. Instead of 'enduring the summer heat', Rinne proposes a new summer tourism experience: a 'cooling experiential resort' that combines ice, water, mist, and night contents, serving as a 'new way to spend summer by turning extreme heat into enjoyment' and a 'summer retreat to escape the heat'.

Rinne aims to contribute to disseminating Ibaraki's appeal and enhancing its tourism value by creating a new tourism value—a 'new summer stay experience where families can enjoy and cool down together'—in response to the social issue of extreme heat.

Background and Overview of the 'Chilly Botanical Resort' Launch
The increasingly severe heatwaves in recent years have become a major concern when choosing travel destinations, especially for families with small children. On the other hand, Rinne has an environment where one can fully enjoy nature exactly because it is summer, including a botanical garden, a tropical plant greenhouse, and a glamping area in the forest.
Therefore, rather than saying 'it's too hot to play outside', Rinne wanted to provide 'experiences that can be enjoyed precisely because it's hot'. By scattering water, mist, and cooling effects throughout the park, the 'Chilly Botanical Resort' was born.
Rinne has prepared 32 experiences with gaps and surprises, such as an ice-filled wading pool, a squall experience in the tropical plant greenhouse, and a menthol aufguss, where guests wonder 'why is it so cool even though it is hot?'.
By letting children play to their heart's content and adults refresh in nature, Rinne provides a special 'Chilly Botanical Resort' experience exclusive to this summer, bringing smiles to the whole family and leaving them 'feeling cool before they know it'.
