Future Beer Garden (https://www.kamikatz.jp/event/fbg2026/)
■ Sustainable Beer Garden "Drink, Eat, Enjoy. Connected to something a little good for the environment."
The word "sustainable" often feels difficult or special.
However, what if the time spent enjoying a drink with colleagues after work, or simply enjoying what you like, unknowingly led to environmentally friendly actions?
This event, now in its third year, aims to be a place where visitors can naturally and comfortably experience resource circulation through "slightly better choices" that can be easily incorporated into daily life.
【Something a little good for the environment ①】 "Experiencing" circulation by drinking and eating
■ "Experiential" Waste Station
At the center of the venue, a waste station, symbolizing this event, will be installed as the main monument. It is not merely a place for waste disposal, but aims to be an "experiential" space, creating an environment where visitors can naturally learn about the mechanisms of resource circulation.
Design: Wrap Architecture Office
This waste station adopts a design reminiscent of the "Kamikatsu Town Zero Waste Center," a hub for disseminating Kamikatsu Town's zero-waste initiatives.
It is constructed using reusable fixtures and materials, and embodies the overall concept of the event by using "environmentally friendly paints."
Rock Paint Co., Ltd.
With the cooperation of Rock Paint Co., Ltd., the waste station uses a clear paint containing insect repellent, made from recycled coffee grounds after extraction. Furthermore, rollers made from recycled marine microplastics are used for painting, realizing a "circular painting" process that is environmentally friendly in itself.

■ Creating a future from the act of "discarding"
Towards the realization of "sustainable urban development where environmental considerations and economic activities coexist (※)" advocated by the Mitsubishi Estate Group, we will develop initiatives that allow urban visitors to feel the mechanism of circulation close at hand.
By "visualizing" the circulation process of containers and materials used in the event, we will create an opportunity for visitors to intuitively experience the existence of new options where "discarding does not equal the end."
※As targets for reducing environmental impact, we aim for a waste recycling rate of 90% and a 20% reduction in waste emissions (compared to FY2019 / per m²). In the Marunouchi area (Otemachi, Marunouchi, Yurakucho), we aim for a 100% waste recycling rate.
In the dining area, with the cooperation of companies engaged in sustainable initiatives, tableware and cutlery will be provided to reduce waste generation.
ChopValue Japan
Some of the cutlery will be "bamboo-derived" disposable chopsticks, which have a low environmental impact. After use and sorting, they will be collected by ChopValue Japan and reborn as furniture and other fixtures. https://chopvalue.jp/
UACJ
An integrated aluminum manufacturer. Original event aluminum cups will be used. After use and sorting, they will be melted down and reborn as materials for aluminum cans and cups again. https://www.uacj.co.jp
EcoinnoJapan
Disposable plastic/PFAS-free food containers made primarily from sugarcane bagasse will be introduced. They will be composted and turned into potting soil by farmers in the Kanto region and utilized for vegetable cultivation. https://www.ecoinno.co.jp
In addition, true to the concept, a specially designed dining space will be set up for this event so that visitors can first enjoy the event itself. While being environmentally friendly by using fixtures made from waste materials and reusable materials after dismantling, it will provide a comfortable space where visitors can gather around a table with companions and enjoy conversations. In the vicinity of this area, talk sessions (free participation) will be held to introduce the initiatives of exhibitors and companies, and cooperation between urban and rural areas.
■ List of Exhibitors
In addition to offering menus utilizing ingredients from Kamikatsu Town, restaurants and brands that endorse the philosophy of this event will exhibit. The experience of enjoying craft beer and food itself will naturally lead to an understanding of resource circulation – this area proposes a way of "experiencing" circulation through drinking and eating.

The People’s Table
A long table will be set up at the venue as "People's Table: Connecting Dining Tables," providing an open space for interaction where visitors can naturally converse with each other. Bring your favorite dishes and drinks, and talk to someone next to you about the questions on the dialogue cards placed on the table. Eat, drink, and talk. That will be the first step towards a sustainable future.

【Something a little good for the environment ②】 Expanding sustainable initiatives with companies
At the waste station, companies and brands that endorse the philosophy of this event will exhibit products and services designed to reduce environmental impact. This will provide visitors with hints and insights that they can practice in their daily lives, and an opportunity to increase their choices for better options.
■ Craft beer that positively embodies resource circulation
The 2026 edition of "TOWN CRAFT - Beer for Thinking about the Future of the Town -", a collaboration beer born from sustainable initiatives by Spec and Mitsubishi Estate, is scheduled to be released in conjunction with the event.
It uses barley cultivated with liquid fertilizer generated from food waste composted within the TOKYO TORCH Tokiwabashi Tower, and "Yuko" citrus from Kamikatsu Town. By enjoying this beer, it becomes a mechanism to easily participate in zero-waste activities.
Details will be announced in future updates.

【Something a little good for the environment ③】 Area to experience the charm of Kamikatsu Town
In the atrium, as an opportunity to make visitors "want to visit Kamikatsu Town," local specialties such as Kamikatsu Awa Bancha tea and the rare citrus "Yuko," as well as the initiatives of the producers who support them, will be introduced. At the same time, the charm of life with nature and satoyama (rural landscapes) will be promoted, such as agriculture on terraced rice fields and mountain conservation activities.
Furthermore, initiatives utilizing regional resources, represented by "Irodori (leaf business)," will also be introduced. Product sales and consultation for relocation will also be conducted, connecting visitors to the charm of Kamikatsu Town even while in Tokyo, thereby creating a related population and promoting exchange.

■ Kamikatsu Town, Tokushima Prefecture
Kamikatsu Town, Tokushima Prefecture, is a small town with a population of approximately 1,300 people located in the mountains in the central part of the prefecture, facing local issues such as a declining birthrate, aging population, and population decrease. In 2003, it became the first in Japan to declare "Zero Waste," achieving a recycling rate of over 80% through 14 categories and 44 separations. However, the remaining approximately 20% of waste remains a challenge.
Against this background, in 2020, with a new declaration, the "Kamikatsu Town Zero Waste Center" was established, and the world's first zero-waste action hotel "HOTEL WHY" was opened. It creates a place where people can learn about sustainability through experience. Kamikatsu Town continues its efforts not only on waste issues but also as a town that practices "local sustainability."
■ RISE & WIN Brewing Co.
A brewery based in Kamikatsu Town, Tokushima Prefecture, which was the first in Japan to declare Zero Waste.
Simply enjoying delicious craft beer casually with friends becomes a small trigger to protect Kamikatsu's beautiful environment and learn about social issues. RISE & WIN regards craft beer as a means to personalize zero-waste activities and disseminates the charm rooted in Kamikatsu's life and experiences.
