Sanga Shinsha Co., Ltd. will hold a dialogue event on Monday, July 27, 2026, from 7:00 PM, at the Osaka Municipal Central Public Hall (and via Zoom online). The event will feature psychiatrist Yasufumi Nagoshi and Shinmei P, author of the bestseller 'I Don't Have One: Eastern Philosophy as Education,' in a discussion titled "'I' Am Suffering: Mental Prescriptions for a Lighter Heart Through Buddhism, Psychology, and Eastern Philosophy."

Background of the Event

In relationships, work, anxieties about the future, and daily confusions and fatigue, we can unknowingly carry heavy burdens on our minds. In today's era, where "individuality" and "self-responsibility" are strongly emphasized, partly due to the spread of social media, an increasing number of people feel a sense of difficulty in living stemming from their very existence as "self."

At such times, Buddhism, Eastern philosophy, and psychology offer hints for changing our perspectives and lightening our hearts.

This event will feature Dr. Yasufumi Nagoshi, a psychiatrist who has dealt with many people's minds and possesses deep knowledge of Buddhism and psychology, and Shinmei P, the author of the popular bestseller 'I Don't Have One.'

Instead of "searching for the self," realizing that "there is no self in the first place." From there, life's suffering begins to ease slightly—This dialogue, which is both wild and logical, brings together the charm of Eastern philosophy that makes life's difficulties more manageable and Dr. Nagoshi's perspective that deciphers the modern mind from both clinical experience and philosophical viewpoints, promising laughter and discoveries.

In addition to in-person attendance in Osaka, online participation via Zoom is also available. All tickets include access to the archive stream.

'I Don't Have One: Eastern Philosophy as Education' by Shinmei P (Sancutary Publishing)

Shinmei P's book 'I Don't Have One' uses the thoughts of figures like Buddha, Nagarjuna, Lao Tzu, Zhuangzi, Shinran, and Kūkai as a starting point to fundamentally overturn the question, "What is the true self?"

Since its publication, it has received a significant response and has become a bestseller with over 280,000 copies sold.

In this dialogue, starting from the themes of this book, he will discuss with psychiatrist Dr. Yasufumi Nagoshi the strangeness and complexity of the assumption of "self," and hints for gaining a little freedom from it.

Both those who have read the book and those who are about to read it are sure to enjoy a time where they can think, "Is that another way to see myself?"
