Kids Way Launches Black Globe Temperature Compatible Sensor to Visualize "True Heat" Including Radiant Heat

Kids Way Inc. (Headquarters: Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, President & CEO: Koji Takahashi, hereinafter referred to as Kids Way) will begin offering the "Black Globe Model" for its "Cloud Environmental Sensor WEATHERY®" (hereinafter referred to as WEATHERY) on July 1, 2026. This model supports the measurement of WBGT*1 (Heat Stroke Index) using black globe temperature.

This new model visualizes heat, including "radiant heat" from solar radiation and reflected light, which could not be fully grasped with conventional temperature and humidity management. It supports site managers and safety personnel in making swift and accurate decisions regarding work interruptions and countermeasures.

*1 WBGT: Abbreviation for Wet Bulb Globe Temperature. It is a heat index calculated from air temperature, humidity, and radiant heat, used as an indicator for heatstroke prevention.

Background of Development

-- Legal Amendments and Extreme Heat Highlight "Misjudgment Risk" --

In recent years, with the normalization of extreme heat, heatstroke accidents have become a serious concern in workplaces such as construction, logistics, and manufacturing. Due to the amendment of the Industrial Safety and Health Act in June 2025, employers are now obligated to establish systems to prevent the worsening of heatstroke conditions.*2

Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the number of heatstroke-related injuries and deaths (requiring 4 or more days of leave) in workplaces in 2025 is projected to be 1,681 (an increase of approximately 40% from the previous year), highlighting the challenge of effective countermeasures.

In this context, the ministry is strongly urging thorough heatstroke prevention measures in the workplace, emphasizing the importance of understanding WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) and implementing appropriate preventive measures based on its values.*3

However, conventional management based solely on temperature and humidity can sometimes fail to adequately grasp the heat and danger levels that are closer to actual human perception, leading to delays or misjudgments in decisions about continuing work.
