British luxury cruise line Cunard has announced a historic event where all four of its Queens will gather in Liverpool for the very first time.

On May 16, 2028, Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria, and the new Queen Anne will meet on the River Mersey in what is expected to be one of the most memorable moments in Cunard’s modern history.

This marks the first time the entire fleet has been brought together in Liverpool, the city where Cunard was founded in 1840 and which remains its spiritual home. It offers a rare opportunity to see all four Queens lined up simultaneously.

The last major Cunard gathering on the Mersey occurred in 2015 to mark the brand's 175th anniversary, attracting over a million spectators to the Liverpool waterfront. The 2028 event aims to build on this tradition, with special waterfront celebrations planned to mark the historic homecoming.

Significantly, Queen Mary 2 will arrive in Liverpool on May 16, 2028, following a direct transatlantic crossing from New York—the first time the ship has performed such a voyage. This also marks the first eastward arrival into Liverpool from New York for Cunard since the RMS Sylvania docked at the Princess Landing Stage on November 18, 1966, over 61 years ago.

The 4 Queens event coincides with the 20th anniversary of Liverpool being named European Capital of Culture. Throughout 2028, the city will host a diverse program of music, maritime, and sporting events, with Cunard’s return serving as a central highlight.

Guests can witness this historic moment through special '4 Queens Celebration' voyages across the fleet.

Queen Mary 2 will lead the way with its first NY-Liverpool crossing before continuing its traditional transatlantic and North American routes. Queen Anne will start its 2028 season in Northern Europe before an overnight stay in Liverpool. Passengers on Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria will also join the Mersey gathering, with Queen Elizabeth sailing from Southampton and Queen Victoria arriving after a British Isles voyage.

Katie McAlister, President of Cunard, commented: 'Having all four Queens together on the Mersey for the first time will be a very special and precious moment for Cunard. Liverpool is our home, and returning with the entire fleet is a symbolic celebration of that bond. It will be an unforgettable day for our guests and everyone watching from the shore.'

Liam Robinson of Liverpool City Council added: 'Welcoming four Queens simultaneously is a special opportunity for our city and its visitors. We take great pride in our maritime history, and for Liverpool—the spiritual home of Cunard—this will be an unforgettable moment.'

Full details of Cunard’s 2028 deployment and booking dates will be released at a later date.
