Myogadani Shogi Center and Iena Academy (operated by Wea Education Inc.) have renewed their Shogi school curriculum from April 2026 and have begun recruiting students.

This center offers a comprehensive Shogi education program for everyone, from beginners aiming to qualify for the professional Shogi association (Shoreikai) to advanced students, current Shoreikai members, and top student players.

The course structure has been revamped, and many professional Shogi instructors have been invited. High-quality instruction tailored to each student's skill level is available.

## Background of Launch

High-quality instruction is essential for improving in Shogi. However, in reality, environments where one can learn Shogi thoroughly are decreasing year by year, with the closure of Shogi dojos and the discontinuation of services like Shogi Club 24.

Myogadani Shogi Center has established a coaching system by professionals for students of a wide range of skill levels to meet these needs.

## Course Structure (Catering to Beginners to Shoreikai Members)

This center offers the following three courses, based on skill level and objectives:

### ① Iena Academy Shono Toshiyuki Shogi Classroom
Target Skill Level: Beginner to Shogi Federation Dojo 1-dan

Shono Toshiyuki, a former Shoreikai 3-dan and winner of the Elementary School Meijin Championship, serves as the chief instructor, providing careful and systematic guidance.

The focus is on guided games in small groups, aiming for steady skill improvement from the fundamentals.

### ② Iena Academy Shoreikai Examination Preparation Course
Target Skill Level: Shogi Federation Dojo 1-dan or higher (primarily for Kenshukai students)

This is a specialized course aimed at passing the Shoreikai examination. It combines practical play, study, and lectures to improve overall skill.

- Tomofumi Takano Shogi Research Group
  Instructor: Tomofumi Takano 6-dan
  Schedule: Third Saturday Afternoon
  Content: Guided games, practical experience against top student players

- Shoreikai Examination Preparation Online Lesson
  Instructor: Haruki Fukuda Shoreikai 3-dan
  Schedule: Every Monday 19:30-20:15 (Preparation Class: Up to Kenshukai D1)

                20:15-21:00 (Study Class: Kenshukai C2 or higher)
  Content: Opening lectures with handicapped games (Kaochi), endgame skill enhancement lectures, etc.
  *Directly related to the Shoreikai examination.

- Shoreikai Examination Preparation Sunday Special Training Class
  Schedule: Sundays 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
  Content: Intense 60-minute games with 60-second per move, and specialized practical instruction.

- Shoreikai Member Kenshukai Research Group
  Schedule: Second Saturday Afternoon
  Content: Games and study among high-skill players.

- Online Game Sessions
  Content: Students play online games daily, with monthly round-robin tournaments.

  - Third Saturday: Tomofumi Takano Shogi Player Research Group (Afternoon)
  - Second and Fourth Sundays: Myogadani Sunday Research Group (9:30 AM - 12:30 PM)

- Online games (as needed)
  Daily games between Shoreikai members and top student players.
