Walking the Town
In Iizaka Town, Fukushima City, a new tourism initiative called the 'Iizaka Onsen Town All-Inclusive Plan' will launch on Friday, June 19, 2026. This program unites local ryokans, restaurants, shops, and public bathhouses to transform the entire onsen district into one immersive accommodation experience.

In recent years, many hot spring destinations have faced challenges such as 'guests staying within their lodgings' and 'declining circulation throughout the town'.
The Iizaka Onsen Town All-Inclusive Plan was created specifically to address these issues.
Guests use a dedicated passport to enjoy local sake, gourmet food, day-trip bathing, and more across designated town locations—without worrying about additional fees.
This is not the traditional 'lodge-by-lodge' service model, but a new tourism concept where the entire onsen town collectively welcomes visitors.

Participating confectioneries and cafes
Drinks
All-you-can-drink seasonal Fukushima sake and craft beer
Revitalizing the Entire Onsen Town Through Regional Collaboration
The initiative includes participation from ryokans, hotels, restaurants, liquor stores, and public bathhouses.
By expanding tourism spending beyond accommodations to the wider community, the plan aims to:
- Revitalize the onsen town - Increase sales for local businesses - Extend visitor stay durations - Enhance overall tourist satisfaction - Boost repeat visitation
Additionally, the program is planned to be promoted as a 'town-walking tourism experience' targeting the expected growth in inbound tourists.
From Iizaka Onsen to the Nation: A Model for Regionally Integrated All-Inclusive Tourism
While all-inclusive services have recently expanded mainly in resort hotels, implementing such a model across an entire onsen town is a rare initiative nationwide.
Iizaka Onsen aims to shift from 'individual lodging-based customer acquisition' to 'community-wide revenue generation through tourism' via this system.
Amid ongoing population decline and changing travel behaviors, this project will serve as a model for sustainable destination development through regional collaboration.
