The blockbuster novel "GATE SEASON2 Jieitai Kano Umi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri" by AlphaPolis Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Yusuke Kajimoto, https://www.alphapolis.co.jp/), which has exceeded 7.7 million copies in total series circulation (including manga and digital editions). The 2nd key visual for its TV animation has been released. In addition, it has been decided to exhibit a booth at "Machi Asobi vol.30" to be held on May 16 (Sat) and 17 (Sun), 2026, and the original author Takumi Yanai will appear on stage.

In the released 2nd key visual, the main characters gather: Maritime Self-Defense Force member Hajime Tokushima, his superior Etajima, and those they meet—Primera, Shura, Odette, and Eau de Vie. In the background, the elaborately detailed galley ship "Odette" is depicted. The turbulent ocean, along with a restless atmosphere and a sense of tension, foreshadows the epic story that is about to unfold.

It has been decided that "GATE2" will participate in "Machi Asobi vol. 30" held on May 16 (Sat) and 17 (Sun), 2026.

At the booth, it has been decided to distribute postcards using the newly unveiled 2nd key visual! In addition, the series' first official merchandise, a "Metal Tag Keychain", is scheduled for sale. ["GATE SEASON2 Jieitai Kano Umi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri" Synopsis]

Thanks to the efforts of Ground Self-Defense Force First Lieutenant Youji Itami (formerly Second Lieutenant), the once-closed "Gate" was successfully reopened. The Japanese government, wishing to maintain its advantage of monopolizing the "Gate" in the international community, mobilizes the Self-Defense Forces to focus on political and topographical surveys to build further peaceful relationships with the residents of the Special Region. Maritime Self-Defense Force Captain Goro Etajima and his subordinate, former master chef Petty Officer Second Class Hajime Tokushima, were also traveling across various countries in the Special Region on such a survey mission.

However, one day, they are given a special order to rescue an American journalist who was kidnapped in the islands lining the Azure Sea of the Special Region. The two immediately board the Maritime Self-Defense Force Oyashio-class submarine "Kitashio" and set sail into the sea of another world, but the area around the Azure Sea is in a state of chaos where archipelago nations and pirates vie for power.
