Japan's MEXT IB Education Consortium will hold a regional seminar on June 28, 2026 at Osaka Jogakuin Junior & Senior High School (Chuo-ku, Osaka). The event targets upper-elementary students and older, plus their guardians, covering IB philosophy, learning methods, and post-graduation pathways through lectures, hands-on classes, and firsthand testimonials. Admission is free with pre-registration (first 200 applicants). The programme includes a keynote on the IB Diploma Programme (DP), a TOK (Theory of Knowledge) demo lesson led by a practising IB teacher, a panel discussion featuring current IB students and parents, and a talk on university admissions pathways. Exhibits of IB student work will be on display during breaks. As of March 2026, Japan has 265 IB-certified or candidate schools, surpassing the government's target of 200 set in 2023. The IB is practised in over 6,000 schools across roughly 160 countries. Organised by Aoba International Educational Systems, the seminar aims to show how inquiry-based, collaborative IB learning fosters critical thinking and communication skills vital in an era of rapid AI advancement and globalisation.
