As the seventh initiative, an after-school basketball class was launched at Notre Dame Gakuin Elementary School (hereinafter referred to as Notre Dame Gakuin), a private elementary school in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City.

About the Basketball Class at Notre Dame Gakuin Elementary School

Notre Dame Gakuin is a private elementary school founded in 1954 with the educational spirit of "Virtue and Knowledge." The school emphasizes learning centered on experience and fosters "the ability to think for oneself" and "the ability to face and overcome difficulties" as its educational pillars. The school also offers a rich after-school program that utilizes time after regular classes, providing children with diverse experiential opportunities.

ZIGExN UPDATERS has previously built partnerships with educational institutions in Kyoto, such as collaborating with Rakunan High School's basketball club, under the team slogan "UPDATE the YOUTH - Supporting Youth Challenges." The initiative with Notre Dame Gakuin is an extension of these activities.

The opportunity to participate in the school's autumn event, "ND Fes," last year sparked a shared desire between both parties to "deliver authentic skills and attitudes that only active professional players can impart to children's daily learning environments." This led to the establishment of the after-school basketball class as a collaboration that leverages each other's strengths.

In this school, active professional players from ZIGExN UPDATERS will design original programs tailored to the developmental stages of the children in line with Notre Dame Gakuin's educational philosophy and provide direct instruction. Through basketball, the program will also approach the development of non-cognitive skills such as the habit of thinking and acting as a team, empathy for peers, and perseverance.

About ZIGExN UPDATERS' "EN Project"

Under the team slogan "UPDATE the YOUTH - Supporting Youth Challenges -," ZIGExN UPDATERS has been developing the "EN Project" since last season, aiming for sustainable regional development and the creation of opportunities for challenge, valuing the connections with many people involved through the team's activities.

Previous initiatives include establishing a partnership with Rakunan High School's basketball club, participating in the childcare support project "Shimogyo URBAN SPORTS CHALLENGE" in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City, and organizing the West Japan Collegiate Tournament "3x3 Campus Cup," conducting a wide range of activities primarily in Kyoto.

In the 2025-2026 season, we will continue to connect with more people through 3x3 basketball in collaboration with administrative bodies, educational institutions, and community organizations.
