Shochiku Broadcasting Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President: Hiroshi Ida) has started recruiting participants for a "Practical Short Film Production Workshop" led by Director Taro Hyugaji as an instructor. This commemorates the release of "Shochiku Adult Film School", a new platform for creators that opened on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
This is not a simple desk-based lecture, but a super-practical workshop where you leap from the "viewing side" to the "creating side." Under the guidance of Director Hyugaji, all participants will become one team and create a single short film from scratch. As long as you have a passion for movies, even those with no experience are highly welcome. We sincerely await your challenge in filmmaking.
The 3 Thrills of "Making a Movie Together"
- Weaving the script together: From plotting to completing the script, we sit face-to-face to discuss and refine the story.
- Sharing the roles: Director, assistant director, camera assistant, sound assistant, production, and even acting. While receiving robust support from active, front-line professional technical staff (camera/sound), participants will take turns and cooperate to handle every position.
- Running the set together: From indoor to outdoor location shoots, the team will overcome everything that happens on set, such as unexpected changes in lighting or city noise, and carve that moment into the video.

Message from the Instructor: Director Taro Hyugaji (Excerpt) The magic of cinema is terribly terrifying. What is it that attracts people so much? My mentor, Director Kazuo Kuroki, used to say, "Cinema is what most resembles life." Would you all like to get just a little bit closer to that magic?
