The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will newly implement the "Tokyo Deep Tech Commercialization Promotion Project" from FY2026, aiming to promote the social implementation of innovative technologies that contribute to solving social issues. This project will subsidize a portion of the expenses required for development, improvement, and mass production demonstration for projects by Tokyo-based startups and SMEs aimed at commercializing scientific discoveries and innovative technologies (deep tech) that solve social issues.

We previously announced the opening of applications for the "Tokyo Deep Tech Commercialization Promotion Project (Mass Production Demonstration Course)" and today, we are announcing the start of applications for FY2026 for the "Tokyo Deep Tech Commercialization Promotion Project (Commercialization Development Course)."

This project, similar to the "Mass Production Demonstration Course," targets technology development for commercialization through open innovation with business companies and other organizations by startups and SMEs in Tokyo.

*While the previously announced "Mass Production Demonstration Course" primarily aimed at preparation for mass production, the "Commercialization Development Course" announced today focuses on various R&D activities such as prototype manufacturing. *Application Period: July 7, 2026 (Tuesday) - November 13, 2026 (Friday) *Project Overview - Eligible Themes: Projects aimed at the commercialization of innovative technologies (deep tech), etc. (Examples) AI, Agriculture, Safety, Healthcare/Life Sciences, Materials/Nanotechnology, etc. - Support Period: Within 2 years from the date of the grant decision after selection - Maximum Subsidy Amount: 300 million yen - Subsidy Ratio: Within two-thirds of eligible expenses - Number of Selected Projects: 1 (planned)

*Application Requirements Startups and SMEs that meet all of the following requirements (1), (2), and all other requirements stated in the application guidelines. (1) As of May 1, 2026, meet either of the following: A. Meet all of the following requirements: - Have been in business continuously for one year or more. - Have their registered head office or a branch office in Tokyo (for individuals, have filed a business opening notification in Tokyo). B. Have started a business in Tokyo, are currently operating a business in Tokyo, and have been in business for less than one year. *In either case, it is expected that the results of the subsidized project will be utilized to continue business operations in Tokyo.
