About the Tokyo Odekake Project
Japan is the safest country in the world for babies to be born (according to the UNICEF report "Every Child ALIVE"). However, while medical advancements save more lives, there is an increase in "medically fragile children" who require daily care, as well as children with illnesses and disabilities.
"It is difficult to go out because of the sound of alarms when medical care is needed, or worrying about the gazes of others." In addition to this reality for the children, their families are also busy with care 365 days a year, often giving up rest or their careers. Driven by this, the Tokyo Odekake Project provides support for "first outings" for families and time for parents to return to being "themselves."
To date, we have provided experiences to 1,155 people across 52 events in 21 locations nationwide, including Book House Cafe in Jinbocho, Bunkitsu in Roppongi, ROSE GALLERY Ginza, Shiseido Parlour, MiMC in Omotesando, Neal's Yard Remedies, Ninna-ji Temple in Kyoto, and Takeo City Library in Saga (as of May 31, 2026).
Why Sell Fair Trade Coffee with Donations?
Since 2024, the Tokyo Odekake Project has been producing charity coffee featuring designs by kid creators to create work experience opportunities for children and to raise awareness about families of children with illnesses or disabilities.
This time, the third edition features Sumire Namekawa. Sumire has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a disease that affects only 1-2 people per 100,000. She enjoys creating art using an iPad and a switch, and her work has even won awards in national exhibitions. Project members fell in love with her charming design.
Original Fair Trade Coffee Realized
The project is operated by donations, without using medical or welfare systems. Buying and drinking this coffee becomes a donation, which is used for outing events. Furthermore, the coffee is carefully packaged by people with disabilities working at Sukusuku House, and part of the donation goes toward their wages.
About Sales of Charity Fair Trade Coffee We offer 3 bags to those who donate 3,000 yen or more to our organization.
