Dondoyaki Honpo Co., Ltd., based in Yufuin, Oita, is launching its new sweet potato confectionery brand, Mitsusaika, on July 3, 2026. The brand's first shop will open on the B2 floor of Daimaru Fukuoka Tenjin (1-4-1 Tenjin, Chuo-ku, Fukuoka).
Mitsusaika blends Japanese and Western styles to create memorable sweet potato confections. The products primarily feature 'Kanta-kun,' an Oita brand sweet potato (Beni-haruka) aged for over 40 days to achieve a rich, honey-like sweetness.
The brand's initial lineup includes six products: - Mitsutsuya: The signature sweet potato cake with a smooth, melting texture. - Adetsuki: A sweet potato pie with rich filling wrapped in a crispy crust. - Kinudora: A sweet potato dorayaki with a smooth sweet potato paste. - Mitsufuku: A sandwich cookie featuring sweet potato cream and rum raisins. - Mitsune: A sweet potato yokan (jelly) showcasing the natural sweetness of the ingredient. - Mitsupari: Sweet potato chips made with Kyushu-grown Beni-haruka and flavored with honey butter.
These products are crafted to leave a lasting sweet impression, making them ideal for both casual gifts and formal souvenirs.
