Teradata (NYSE: TDC) today announced 'Teradata Factory', a fully integrated on-premises platform for enterprises running AI and data analytics in hybrid environments. This extends the advanced capabilities of the 'Teradata Autonomous Knowledge Platform' to on-premises settings. For companies moving AI from experimentation to production at scale, building a hybrid environment combining cloud and on-premises systems is an unavoidable reality. However, they no longer need to accept compromises like soaring costs or data constraints. This product is built on Dell Technologies' enterprise compute and storage, integrating Teradata's full software stack, including the AI development tool 'AI Studio', into a single management console. It balances 'data sovereignty', where data security is fully managed in-house, with high performance independent of the cloud, natively supporting EDW, lakehouse, and advanced AI workloads. As AI and agentic AI are deployed in real-world operations, the cost structure of infrastructure is changing drastically. Massive GPU consumption, 24/7 AI inference, and analytics using vast amounts of data are exposing the 'economic limits of public cloud' at levels not seen in traditional system operations. Especially in sectors like finance, healthcare, and government, where data residency and strict local control are required, adopting hybrid environments or private AI while maintaining multi-cloud flexibility is a mandatory requirement. Teradata Factory eliminates this complexity by condensing these into a 'pre-validated single system with a single management console'. The core of this product is the 'Autonomous Knowledge' capability. This is the ability to transform numerical data, unstructured data like reports and contracts, and business models into trusted 'understanding, decision-making, and action' under governance. Supported by industry-specific data and data lineage, it provides business context for AI agents to autonomously learn, improve, and act across systems with minimal human intervention. It is scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2026 (July-September).
