Painting Contest Held in Spring and Autumn at Gamagori's Takeshima Area to Depict the Beauty of Nature and Wildlife

The Gamagori Tourism Association will host a painting contest twice a year—during spring and autumn—for children from preschool age through junior high school, featuring the Takeshima area in Gamagori City, Aichi Prefecture. By creating artworks depicting the unique scenery, seasonal nature, and wildlife of the Takeshima area, participants will have the opportunity to rediscover the region’s charm through their own creative perspectives.

Outstanding works will be awarded prizes such as the Mayor’s Award, the President of the Gamagori Tourism Association Award, and the Takeshima Award, along with gifts including dining vouchers for two, art supplies, and local products. Additionally, winning entries will be displayed in mini-exhibitions at Hotel Takeshima each season, with a full-scale painting exhibition held at the end of the fiscal year.

We hope this contest inspires participants to visit the Takeshima area during different seasons, engage with the local nature and culture, and create memorable masterpieces while enjoying the joy of artistic expression. We sincerely look forward to your submissions.

＜How to Submit＞

Please write your address, full name, grade level, and contact information (phone number and email address) on the back of your artwork, and either deliver it in person or mail it to the following address:

＜Eligibility＞

Children under elementary school age, elementary school students, and junior high school students

＜Artwork Requirements＞

① The artwork must be a plein-air sketch created on-site at the Takeshima area, depicting seasonal scenery, the sea and sky, aquatic life from the aquarium, seasonal plants, fruits, insects, and buildings.

Theme Examples:
(Spring) Rhododendrons and Takeshima, fresh greenery, clam digging
(Autumn) Sunset views, autumn foliage at Takeshima, tranquility, New Year scenes, etc.

② Medium: Open (pencil, watercolor, oil painting, colored pencils, etc.)

③ Size: B4 art paper (approx. 257 x 364 mm)

④ Number of Entries: One per season per person (maximum of two entries per year)

Creation Period: October to December 2026 (New Year scenes allowed)

※ At the end of the fiscal year, a mini-exhibition titled “Painting Exhibition of the Takeshima Area, True to Gamagori” will be held at Hotel Takeshima.
