Accepting Applications for the FY2026 Tokushima Prefectural Staff [Curator (Japanese Modern Art (Japanese Painting))] and [Curator (Japanese Modern Art (Western Painting))] Selection Examination!

The prefectural related organizations (Tokushima Modern Art Museum, etc.) are recruiting curators to engage in research on modern and contemporary art, primarily in the fields of "Japanese Modern Art (Japanese Painting)" and "Japanese Modern Art (Western Painting)," as well as collection, storage, exhibition, educational activities, and other administrative tasks.

【Planned Number of Hires】

Curator (Japanese Modern Art (Japanese Painting)): Approximately 1 person

Curator (Japanese Modern Art (Western Painting)): Approximately 1 person

【Planned Start Date】

In principle, April 1, 2027.

However, for those who have already graduated from university, etc., if possible, employment may begin on or after October 1, 2026.

【Eligibility】

(1) Qualifications

Candidates must meet both of the following criteria:

A: Individuals who have majored in art history at a university (including graduate schools, excluding junior colleges) under the School Education Act.

Note: Those who are expected to graduate or complete a course in art history or related fields at a university (including graduate schools, excluding junior colleges) by March 31, 2027, will lose eligibility if they fail to graduate or complete by that date.

B: Individuals who possess the qualification of curator as stipulated in Article 5 of the Museum Act (Act No. 285 of 1951), or those who are expected to obtain it by March 31, 2027.

Note: If unable to obtain the curator qualification, eligibility for employment is lost.

(2) Age

Individuals born on or after April 2, 1987.

From Tuesday, May 19, 2026, to Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

D: University graduation (or expected graduation) certificate or graduate school completion (or expected completion) certificate (1 copy)

E: Academic transcript (undergraduate level and above) (1 copy)

F: Curator qualification certificate (copy of qualification exam pass certificate, transcript of completed credits, etc.) or expected qualification certificate (1 copy)

G: Report titled "How will you utilize your research theme in future museum activities?" (A4 paper, horizontal writing, 600 to 1,200 characters)

H: List of achievements and major achievements (published books, papers, exhibition catalogs, reports, etc.), up to 3 items (reprints or copies acceptable)

(*) The format of the achievement list is free. In addition to publications, please classify and describe achievements such as conference presentations, invited lectures, acquisition of external research funds, joint research, or participation in art projects. Those with practical experience in art museums, museums, etc., should also describe the main projects they have been in charge of.

【Examination Schedule and Venue】

(1) Document Screening

After the application deadline, screening will be conducted promptly, and results will be sent in writing to all applicants regardless of pass/fail.

Successful candidates will also receive the examination admission ticket and venue information for the written test.

(2) First Exam: Written Exam (General Knowledge and Specialized Subjects)

Date: Sunday, July 12, 2026

Venue: Tokushima Modern Art Museum

Announcement of Results: Late July 2026

* Results will be sent in writing to all applicants regardless of pass/fail.

Successful candidates will also be notified of the date and time of the oral exam.

(3) Second Exam (Oral Exam)

Scheduled for early August 2026 at Tokushima Modern Art Museum.
