Announcement of Book Club on 'Millennials Who Changed America'

Minority Stock.com Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nerima-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and Chairman: Yutaka Yamanaka; hereinafter, "the Company") will co-host a book club with the Nerima Political Study Group and the Civil Division 8 Monitoring Committee. The theme of the book club is 'Millennials Who Changed America: The Millennial Generation, SNS, YouTube, and Political Realignment' (authored by Morley Winograd and Michael D. Hais, supervised translation by Kumi Yokoe).

This book examines political and social realignments that occur approximately every 40 years in America from a "generational" perspective. It argues that the millennial generation, adept at using new communication technologies such as SNS and YouTube, is the driving force behind reshaping existing political frameworks.

A key feature of this book is that it does not merely introduce youth culture, but rather analyzes American politics from a broad historical perspective, where generational change triggers political realignment. The content is structured into three parts: Part 1, "American Politics and the Birth of Generation M"; Part 2, "The Dawn of a New Era"; and Part 3, "Prospects for a New American Politics." It discusses the values of Generation M, the political significance of social networks, the process by which technology rewrites the political map, and even new civil society infrastructures and policy directions.

Furthermore, the book portrays the millennial generation not merely as a demographic group, but as an entity that changes styles of political participation, methods of information sharing, and engagement with organizations. A crucial insight of this book is its positioning of Generation M as agents of network-based mobilization, empathy-driven support formation, and new political culture bearers who transcend existing boundaries, rather than relying on traditional party organizations or media-led politics.

At this book club, we will discuss key issues such as the political characteristics of the millennial generation, changes in political participation brought about by SNS and YouTube, the realignment of American politics, differences from youth politics in Japan, and how generational change transforms society and democracy. We aim for this to be a valuable place for learning and dialogue for anyone interested in American politics, generational theory, media, elections, and democracy in the digital age.

■ Lecturer Profile

Yutaka Yamanaka (born December 1976)

An activist investor representing the '76 generation, art collector, philanthropist, political activity sponsor, election consultant, policy advisor, social activist, and Akita dog enthusiast. Internationally, he is recognized as a "tech-savvy activist investor" and is historically the first Japanese individual to achieve asset formation exceeding 150 billion yen solely through investment.

In the early 2010s, he focused on NVIDIA, a company developing GPGPU and artificial intelligence (AI)-related semiconductors, invested approximately 2 billion yen, and subsequently achieved a return of over 100 times, becoming the first purely investor-billionaire from Japan.

Graduated as valedictorian from the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Economics. Obtained a master's degree from Columbia University Graduate School (specializing in financial engineering) and studied abroad at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He is a co-representative partner of Investment Brothers LLC and co-founder and chairman of Minority Stock.com Co., Ltd. He is currently a shareholder in over 1000 listed companies and over 200 unlisted companies worldwide. His investments include AI startups in Israel, healthcare ventures in Nigeria, and battery manufacturers in Taiwan, making him a truly global investor.

Drawing from his personal experience of struggling with dyslexia and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) in childhood, he established a support program for children with learning disabilities, modeling it after Charles Schwab, a major US discount broker. His personal physician is the renowned psychiatrist Professor Akira Iwanami (former director of Showa University Karasuyama Hospital).

He is also the organizer of the political group "Establishing a Constitutional Court in Japan."
