The first installment of the "Sakano Yasai Matsuri" (Vegetable Festival on the Slopes), featuring summer vegetables from the western foothills of Hakone, will be held on July 11, 2026 (Sat) at "Mishima Skywalk" and JA Fuji Izu Farmers Market "Mishimarukan."
Featured this year are popular summer vegetables such as "Mishima Potatoes," which were the first in Shizuoka Prefecture to obtain GI certification in 2016 and are meticulously hand-dug; "Mishima Corn," a daily hit at direct sales stands; "Yamatsu Leaf Ginger," with its mild spiciness certified as "Shizuoka Food Selection" in 2023; and "Hakone Edamame," which won a bronze medal at the National Edamame Championship hosted by the Japan Vegetable Sommelier Association in 2025.
The highlight event this year is a collaboration between "Gourmet Eigyo Man" (Gourmet Salesman) and "Hakone Seiroku Mishima Vegetables" at the Mishima Skywalk venue! Popular SNS influencer "Gourmet Eigyo Man," who visits over 500 restaurants annually, will bring together carefully selected, incredibly delicious gourmet food. A discount ticket usable at participating stores is included with your suspension bridge admission ticket, offering a great opportunity to enjoy.

Event Highlights
At the Mishimarukan venue, in addition to selling fresh summer vegetables, Mishima croquettes, and Mishima potato beer, there will be a challenge to make a large Mishima croquette with a diameter of 50 cm. Other activities include a performance of the Mishima croquette theme song "Mishima Crocken Roll!" sung by Creshe & Machiko Kosaka, free distribution of vichyssoise, and a croquette burger making experience.
At the Mishima Skywalk venue, "Gourmet Eigyo Man" will offer incredibly delicious gourmet dishes made with Hakone Mishima vegetables, carefully selected by him. This event allows you to experience the appeal of Hakone Seiroku Mishima vegetables through "dishes that can only be tasted here."

Sakano Yasai Matsuri
The "Sakano Yasai Matsuri" has been held since 2023 to promote Hakone Seiroku Mishima vegetables, a specialty of Mishima City, to audiences both within and outside the prefecture. It is held four times a year in collaboration with various organizations such as Mishima City, the tourism association, and local restaurants.
Hakone Seiroku Mishima Vegetables
"Hakone Seiroku Mishima Vegetables" are grown on the western foothills of the Hakone mountain range, on a warm and humid plateau at an altitude of over 50 meters. Nurtured in rich fields passed down through generations, with well-draining soil brought about by volcanic eruptions and a unique climate created by the natural environment of Mt. Fuji, Hakone Mountains, and Suruga Bay, Hakone Seiroku Mishima vegetables are exceptional.
【Mishima Potatoes】
The "Mishima Potato" variety is May Queen, characterized by its rich, deep flavor and moist, fluffy texture. They are harvested one by one by hand, then air-dried and stored before being sorted according to specific standards. These potatoes, with their beautiful skin, are highly regarded in the market and receive higher evaluations compared to May Queen potatoes from other regions during the same season, leading to their certification under Shizuoka Prefecture's first GI protection system in 2016.
【Mishima Corn】
"Mishima Corn" is characterized by its sweetness and rich flavor. It has a juicy texture, and its sweetness is further enhanced by harvesting in the early morning when sugar content is at its peak, making it so sweet that it can be enjoyed raw.
【Yamatsu Leaf Ginger】
"Yamatsu Leaf Ginger" has been cultivated for about 40 years and is characterized by its mild spiciness and refreshing aroma that fills the nose. Its production system, which completes everything from seed production to leaf ginger cultivation within the region, enabling stable long-term shipments, and its active efforts in developing processed products such as seasonings to expand consumption, have been highly praised, leading to its certification as "Shizuoka Food Selection" in 2023.
【Hakone Edamame】
"Hakone Edamame" are grown by carefully selecting and adjusting shipments of different varieties within the season to match the timing, which has earned them high regard in the market and led to increased production. Their balanced gentle sweetness and firm texture, along with a pleasant aftertaste, were recognized with a bronze medal at the 4th National Edamame Championship held by the Japan Vegetable Sommelier Association in 2025.
