Anime 'Tenmaku no Jaadugar' Reveals New Visual, PV, and Cast; SEKAI NO OWARI to Perform Opening Theme

It has been announced that the TV anime adaptation of the acclaimed historical manga 'Tenmaku no Jaadugar' will premiere its first two episodes as a one-hour special on July 4, 2026, at 11:00 PM JST. The series will air on the TV Asahi network's 'IMAnimation' block and BS Asahi. Along with the scheduling, a new main visual and the second promotional video (PV) have been unveiled.

Written and illustrated by Tomato Soup and serialized in Akita Shoten's 'Souffle,' 'Tenmaku no Jaadugar' is set in the 13th-century Mongol Empire. The work has received significant critical acclaim, ranking first in the female category of Takarajimasha's 'Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023' and winning the Grand Prize at the 55th Japan Cartoonists Association Awards. The animation is being produced by Science SARU, the studio behind 'Dandadan' and 'Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!', known for its high-quality global productions.

Main Visual and Promotional Video Updates The newly released main visual, illustrated by character designer Kenichi Yoshida, features the protagonists Sitara and Doregene against a backdrop of the vast Mongolian landscape. The second PV introduces several members of the Mongolian royal family, including Ogedei, Jochi, and Chagatai, alongside Doregene. The footage emphasizes the bond of revenge between Sitara and Doregene as they navigate the world's most powerful empire.

Opening Theme by SEKAI NO OWARI The opening theme song, titled 'Stella,' will be performed by the world-renowned band SEKAI NO OWARI. Composed by Nakajin with lyrics by Fukase, the song is described as a piece that resonates with the grand scale and emotional weight of the story. Original creator Tomato Soup commented that the song feels like a lighthouse for characters searching for their place in a turbulent world.

New Cast and Character Details The second wave of cast members includes: - Doregene (CV: Ami Koshimizu): Ogedei’s sixth wife, harboring a deep-seated hatred for the empire. - Ogedei (CV: Hiro Shimono): The third son of Genghis Khan, known for his calm and generous demeanor. - Chagatai (CV: Daisuke Namikawa): The second son, a strict observer of law and discipline. - Jochi (CV: Kenji Nojima): The eldest son of Genghis Khan.

Ami Koshimizu noted that while the story is historical, the art style makes it accessible, and she aimed to portray Doregene as a nuanced human being rather than a mere 'witch.' World Premiere Screening A world premiere event covering episodes 1 through 3 will be held on June 13, 2026, at United Cinema Aqua City Odaiba. The event will feature a talk show with cast members including Akira Sekine, Ami Koshimizu, Jun Saito, Hiro Shimono, and Ryota Suzuki. Tickets are priced at 3,000 yen.
