A corporate group led by Daiwa Lease Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka; President: Tetsuya Kita) of the Daiwa House Group (consortium members: Adastria Co., Ltd. and Yokosuka Mitsuo Architectural Design Office) will open a facility in a section of Senba Park in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture, on Thursday, April 23rd, developed under the Park-PFI (Public-Private Partnership) system.

'Mito Koubun Terrace,' born on the shores of Lake Senba, features a collection of restaurants using local ingredients, a farmers' market, outdoor activity shops, a sauna, and multi-purpose courts, creating a space where people can relax alone, with friends, or with family. As a 'new lakeside landmark' where visitors can experience the charm of Mito, it will contribute to regional vitality and the enhancement of well-being.

■ About 'Mito Koubun Terrace'

The facility name 'Koubun' is an alternative name for the plum blossom, originating from a story about Emperor Wu of Jin, which suggests that 'if one applies oneself to study, the plum will bloom; if one neglects it, it will not.' Based on this story, it is said that Tokugawa Nariaki, the 9th Lord of the Mito Domain, named the building in the adjacent Kairakuen Garden 'Kobuntei.' We named it 'Mito Koubun Terrace' to serve as an exchange hub open to the community, acting as a 'terrace space' that enhances the value of staying in the park while respecting the harmony with plum culture and scenery, and inheriting the history, regional character, and scenic views of the area.
