Okayama University Exchanges Medical Engineering Technology with ITRI and Others

On May 19, 2026, a delegation led by CEO Chun-Nan Nelson Lin of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and Taiwanese medical device manufacturers INTAI Technology / Remex Medical visited the Tsushima Campus of Okayama University. They exchanged views on cutting-edge technologies in the field of medical engineering and inspected the status of equipment development with Professor Takayuki Matsuno and Professor Tetsushi Kamegawa of the Graduate School of Environmental, Life, Natural Science and Technology, and Professor Jun Sakurai of the Graduate School of Medical Development. At the meeting, CTO Iou-Sheng Danny Chang of REMEX presented the 'Spinal Surgery Navigation System' developed by the company. The system is a groundbreaking technology that enables high-precision 3D navigation at low cost and low radiation exposure by utilizing existing 2D C-arm equipment without the need for hospitals to introduce expensive new 3D imaging devices. The presentation introduced clinical achievements, future implant planning using AI, and the latest trends such as small robotic arms under development.
