Uchino LLC (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Tomoyuki Tamura) will launch the deodorizing rubber mat "AROMAT®", which incorporates Kao Corporation's "Harmoscent Technology", for its original gym rubber mat "GYMMAT®". This product was developed with an advanced approach that converts the unique odor of rubber mats, a long-standing concern in training spaces, into a pleasant fragrance.

Our original product, "GYMMAT®", is a best-selling rubber mat widely used from home gyms to commercial gyms, with cumulative sales exceeding 400,000 units as of June 2026.

However, we have received feedback from some users such as "the rubber smell is stronger than expected" and "the rubber odor lingers in the room even with ventilation." The source of the odor is volatile components from vulcanization emitted from recycled rubber chips. While various methods have been used to address the odor, a complete solution has not yet been achieved.

Therefore, in cooperation with Kao Corporation, we have developed the deodorizing rubber mat "AROMAT®" utilizing "Harmoscent Technology". "Harmoscent Technology" is an innovative technology that incorporates malodor components as part of the fragrance by adding a suitable fragrance to the cause of the odor, thereby converting unpleasant odors into pleasant scents. By adopting this technology, we have succeeded in reducing the unpleasant odor of rubber mats to a level that is almost imperceptible.

Furthermore, we have newly blended and adopted a clean, fresh green scent as the fragrance for "AROMAT®". By installing this product in training spaces, a subtle, fresh green aroma will gently spread. The mat's fragrance is expected to last for over two years under normal usage conditions (※1), which also leads to reduced maintenance costs compared to continuously scenting a space with air fresheners or aroma diffusers.

As of summer 2026, only tile-type rubber mats will be released. However, from autumn 2026 onwards, we plan to expand the AROMAT® series to all existing products, including slopes, roll mats, and joint mats, and release them.

※1 Long-term fragrance durability of the product is evaluated in a short period through an accelerated storage test of 60°C x 14 days. The actual duration of persistence will vary depending on the usage environment (temperature, ventilation conditions, sunlight conditions, cleaning frequency, usage status, etc.), and this test result serves as a reference indicator for evaluating long-term stability.
