[Overview]

The Healthcare AI Platform Collaborative Innovation Partnership (abbreviated as "HAIP") visited 24 medical institutions nationwide to grasp the current state of their security as part of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare's Scientific Research Grant "Typification, Demonstration, and Policy Recommendations for Network Security Configurations to Promote the Use of Medical AI on the Cloud (23AC1001)". During these visits, the following challenges were identified:

Medical institutions had a significant shortage of IT personnel, with only one or fewer staff members per 100 beds responsible for IT system operations management and security measures.

Recruiting IT personnel was difficult due to compensation issues.

Only one-quarter of the institutions had conducted security risk assessments.

There was a request for advice on the results of cybersecurity checklists for medical institutions.

Furthermore, it was noted that 70% of medical institutions were operating at a deficit, facing severe financial conditions. While they understood the importance of security, they struggled to prioritize investments in this area.

Based on these circumstances, we have developed a Web Security Assessment Service that medical institutions can utilize as a means to understand their own security measure status as simply and affordably as possible.

[Features]

This is an assessment tool that allows medical institutions to easily check the current status of their security measures by answering questions reflecting the content of the "Guidelines for Security Management of Medical Information Systems, Version 6.0", the "Cybersecurity Checklist for Medical Institutions, etc., Reiwa 7th Year Edition", and ISMS (Information Security Management System).

This service is web-based and consists of the following three types:

1) For Hospital Medical Information Systems

Purpose: To verify if the hospital's medical information system complies with guidelines and checklists.

Target Audience: Individuals responsible for IT system operations management in hospitals.

Questions: 80 questions across 21 domains.

2) For Hospital Management

Purpose: To assess the extent to which hospital management understands the importance of security*

Target Audience: Hospital chairpersons, directors, and administrative managers.

Questions: 15 questions across 9 domains.

*Looking at the system security audit results of 15 hospitals, a strong correlation was observed: the higher the management's understanding and awareness of security, the better the audit results, and vice versa.

3) For Clinic Medical Information Systems

Purpose: To verify if security measures for small-scale medical information systems in clinics, care facilities, pharmacies, etc., are sufficient.

Target Audience: Clinic directors or their contracted vendors, care facilities, pharmacies, etc.

Questions: 13 questions across 11 domains.

The results will display a radar chart by domain, along with proposed countermeasures for areas where results were poor.

[Service Offerings]

You can choose from the following three service offerings:

1) Hospital Plan 1: Assessment for Hospital Medical Information Systems

2) Hospital Plan 2: Assessment for Hospital Medical Information Systems + Management Assessment

3) Clinic Plan: Assessment for Clinics, Care Facilities, and Pharmacies

We recommend undergoing the Web Security Assessment Service annually, much like a health check-up. We will continue to reflect the latest content of the Guidelines for Security Management of Medical Information Systems and the Cybersecurity Checklist for Medical Institutions, etc.

[Service Launch Date]

July 1, 2026

This Web Security Assessment Service will be introduced at the "International Modern Hospital Show 2026" (Dates: July 8 (Wed) - 10 (Fri), 2026; Venue: Tokyo Big Sight, HAIP/AIHOBS Booth). We look forward to your visit.
