About Yokohama Hasseiden Local History Museum
Hasseiden is a three-story, octagonal building modeled after Horyuji's Yumedono, built by Kenzo Adachi (1868-1948), a politician from Kumamoto Prefecture who served as Minister of Communications and Minister of Home Affairs. It was completed in 1933 (Showa 8). It opened as the "Yokohama Hasseiden Local History Museum" in 1973 (Showa 48) as a museum to convey local history to citizens. It exhibits photographs of Honmoku and Negishi from the late Edo period to the Meiji era, as well as agricultural and fishing tools used in the city, introducing the lives of our ancestors who lived with the blessings of nature.
