The Shiga District Council of the Junior Chamber, Inc., Japan (2026 President: Yusuke Oshitani, Location: 12-34 Takada-cho, Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture) will hold a disaster prevention event "Family Disaster Preparedness Plan ~Let's Talk, Let's Prepare, Our Family's Peace of Mind~" targeting families, especially those with children, on September 5, 2026 (Sat) at Kuritō Art and Culture Hall Sakura.

This event aims to create an opportunity to reframe disaster preparedness not as something special, but as an accessible theme that families can discuss and use to prepare. In Shiga Prefecture, where disasters are relatively infrequent, opportunities to consider disaster preparedness as a personal issue are limited. Therefore, this event aims to provide an impetus for child-rearing generations to think about and take action on disaster preparedness at home.

On the day, in addition to a lecture by meteorologist and disaster prevention specialist Mr. Atsushi Katahira, hands-on disaster prevention booths utilizing Minecraft and Fortnite will be offered. By making the content enjoyable for children, we aim to connect parents and children with disaster preparedness and encourage discussions within the family.

Furthermore, participants will have the opportunity to confirm family information, meeting points, emergency contacts, stockpiled supplies, and locations of emergency bags by filling out the FCP Check Sheet and FCP Card. The FCP Check Sheet includes items to check such as drinking water, emergency food, regular medications, flashlights, and spare batteries/mobile batteries, serving as a catalyst for reviewing household preparedness. Additionally, the distribution of LED lights will lead to concrete preparedness measures at home.
