[Joyo Junior Chamber] Urban Sports Festa to be held on April 19 *April 26 in case of rain

The Joyo Junior Chamber (President: Daiki Moriyama, Location: Joyo City, Kyoto Prefecture) will hold the 'Urban Sports Festa' on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at the 3rd-floor rooftop parking lot of Al Plaza Joyo.

This event was planned with the aim of providing children with a new place for culture, expression, and challenges through 'urban sports' such as skateboarding and street dance. A skateboard show, a dance show, a free trial area, and food trucks will gather in one place, making it a day for families and local residents to enjoy.

The skateboard show will feature 'LEAPS', a skateboard team led by Katsuya Nakazawa, who is known as the 'man with the best ollie in Japan' and has about 180,000 YouTube followers. For the dance show, 'Step Up' (Representative: Seizo Horii), one of the largest kids' street dance classes in the Kansai region, will perform, delivering a spectacular performance by more than 10 teams of children. Additionally, three food trucks will open stalls to liven up the event.

[We want to convey the essence of 'coolness' to children]
The catalyst was a petition campaign in 2022 by 460 people, initiated by a 4th-grade elementary school student who wanted a skateboard park built in Joyo City. Empathizing with that desire, the Joyo Junior Chamber has been hosting the Urban Sports Festa since 2023, making this year its 4th time. In recent years, skateboarding has gathered attention as an Olympic sport, and interest among children is also rising. However, there are still not many opportunities in the local community to safely and enjoyably experience urban sports. This year's theme is to convey to children that 'a cool skater = not just skills, but one's attitude as a person,' and we planned this project with the desire to create a place that nurtures a heart that cares for the city and others.
