The Kodomo no Hattatsu Kagaku Kenkyujo (Research Institute of Child Development Science) (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture) has been commissioned by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare to provide support for building systems to resolve bullying through approaches from outside the school, such as municipal governments, since fiscal year 2023. To widely disseminate the results of this project, we will hold a free seminar for municipal government heads, boards of education, and local government officials nationwide. This will be the second session in a seven-part series primarily focused on online content, but this particular session will be held in person in Tokyo. We encourage you to attend.

The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has compiled and published "A Guide to Introducing Bullying Resolution Mechanisms in Municipal Governments," summarizing the project results from last fiscal year.

On June 24, the first online seminar was held on the theme of "How to Introduce Bullying Resolution Mechanisms in Municipal Governments." Manabu WAKUSHIDA, a senior researcher at our institute, explained the knowledge that personnel should possess as an organization and the type of system development needed while collaborating with related organizations. The individual consultation sessions for municipal government officials held after the seminar were also fully booked, with participants commenting, "It was very informative," in response to the detailed advice tailored to the challenges faced by each municipality.

This second seminar will provide a more detailed explanation of how to utilize this "Guide." Additionally, based on the "Collection of Points to Note for Preventing Bullying Escalation" and the "Collection of Training Case Studies," created by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and for which our institute conducted an investigation and analysis of serious incidents, we will practically explore how organizations should respond and ensure safety before situations escalate.
